After the initial incident, I found out checks were stolen and this asshat is out there cashing checks. Either the thief is really stupid or has some network thing going on because the person is actually DEPOSITING them into an account number....

ok, here is where I get pissed off..... The cop knows about the checks and the fact that he could get the tapes from the bank or finger print the checks and what does he do? FUCKING NOTHING even after countless calls. I closed the account, yet the robber is still depositing these checks.

I quit staying there after the robbery and finally went home the other day and found more stuff missing (medication and other valuables I didn't notice right away)....

What good are police and why do our taxes pay thier salary?

I might be a peon to them but they took anything valuable I had that wasn't 1,000 lbs or nailed to the floor.

Hey. If the guys is cashing checks or depositing them into a bank, I think that it now falls under the FBI.. Good luck on getting them to help.

The only thing that you can really do, is have a supplimentla report done adding the other things that you found missing, and then just claim it all on you home owners policy or rental policy..

If any CC were taken, make sure to cancel them and then send a letter to equifax. Also because this guy is using your checks, you may want to shoot a letter to the company that does checks. It's kinda like equifax, but I dont know the name.

It is under the FBI's jursdiction, as banks are involved in interstate commerce, and they could help, but I don't think they will. Last I heard they were looking for a minimum $50k loss before getting involved, as a general rule of thumb. There are so many identity theft cases in this country that law enforcement can't chase them all.

It does sound really frustrating, that really sucks.

Ok, say the cops find this guy. He would be out of jail before the cops were done with the paperwork.

Don't blame the cops for a system that rewards crime.

ps: If it's not your sig on the bottom of the check the bank has to eat it.

Angel you should look up the thread I made afew months back when I got that my mom ws in a car accident and I got there then my brother and and we almost got arrested for yelling at the oinker for a being a dick

I don't understand how they are depositing your checks and getting away with it? I've done banking with my bank for years and they still look at me funny when I deposit or withdraw from my own account.

Can't they get surveillance or records of who is depositing them and track them back to the thief? Sounds so weird and confusing. Call the Chief of Police and make a report against the cop if he isn't doing his job. It goes on their record and they have a hard time getting promoted after that.

Go down to the station and have a meeting with the Chief of or Captain of, whatever it is there, Detectives and see what he has to say. These guys have about 12 cases a piece to deal qith and something has to give. Going to the top detective might get you something.

If you don't get any help, then report them to the DOJ and FBI. Someone there will call and the LAST thing a local dept is the Feds coming around sniffing. lol Our local police were invaded and the dept taken over a few years ago. Amazing how quickly they start solving cases and behaving.

If you live in South Florida and you are dealing with Metro Dade, you are screwed.. Metro patrol will take an average of 500 burglary calls a week, and end up doing about 350 reports. Then thos are sent to about 15 detectives.

If they do not have a finger print, blood or a video or photo, then there is very little they can do, until the person attempts to pawn something.

They will most likely turn the check part over to the FBI, and will all the crap about Home land Security, they will file it. In the round file.
