Do you support a charity?

and if you do which one?

I support a number of HIV/AIDS charities, Amnesty Int'l and give to the UK version of Comic Relief and put the odd coin in a bucket here and there.

I try to lookout for the webmaster toy drive every year too though I haven't seen it mentioned yet.

NSPCC, Comic Relief, Age Concern, there just the ones who wrote to me this week. Send money to many charities though as do most people.

Unicef gets my money every month...

You gotta watch out with charities. Some of them (CCF springs to mind) manage to somehow spend 60-80%+ of the money on "administrative" expenses.

I do donate my time and money to several local charities, but what gets me about the more "national" type charities is that, after you donate, you are forevermore innodated by more requests for cash.

"We need you more than ever now!"
"We appreciate your past support, but times are tough!"

I understand their situation, but to be honest it really turns me off donating to the larger charities and I now instead volunteer at the soup kitchen and help out local churches (I am not religious) with clothing drives and turkey programs (around Xmas).

We support this site.

If you'll decide to donate some money it would be greatly appreciated + all money is tax deductible

Charity starts at home

If I buy something in a shop I usually just tell them to keep the change for "the wee box" as I like to call it. Maybe just about 20 pence each time but it all adds up. My mum donates money to Children In Need every year and Comic Relief. Next time I see one of those breast cancer adverts I think I am gonna donate tho. That advert terrifies me. Poor kids who loose their mums

Thats about it.

If i make a donation to anywhere it is always an animal shelter. I care more about animals than i do people, it might be sad but they're cute n furry!

I spend about $10K a year in Charity!
Most money goes to Red Kross.

i volunteered for 4 months

your time is more important than money, especially as the majority of your donation isn't going to the people who need it, but the people who run the organisation *

* some exceptions

we give to Children In Need too. I like that they stress that not a single penny goes to administration.

The cancer adverts? Those are the ones with fields of gold playing over the top? They do tug at the heart strings even if I generally don't like the adverts that try to guilt you into things.

Homeless Voice and Daily Bread Food Bank... other organizations are important as well, but I dont think there's anything more important than people having a place to sleep and food to eat.

Hi there!

I donate some money monthly to a local institution of HIV/AIDS orphan kids.

I used to go to this site www.hungersite.com, and spread some clicks around, but there's been time I don't do that.... Do you think it's for real? I always wonder if it really gives someone food, or saves the rainforest, or cares for abandon animals...

kisses,

Milena

We support our local Humane Society.

We used to give to Amesty International (in the 80's)
because Bono said it was cool. But... we found that their
high gloss mailers they sent when asking for more donations
cost more money than our donations were.

Plus, Bono said that was all just a big snow job to help sell their records and their Sunday bloody sunday stuff.

We also donate to the local food banks. I like to keep it close to home now. Maybe someone who needs something really bad will have what they need.

Do you give to the homeless people you meet ?
