I bought this piece of shit because it does what I need - batch encoding of both .mpg , .rm, and .wmv and a queue so I can stack up jobs and go to sleep.

Unfortunately it crashes around every 2 clips and from what I see of their tech support forums, many people have the same problems and are unable to get any formal help from discreet.

Is there any alternative that anybody knows of? You can't even buy cleaner 6 for windows anymore and I heard that was reliable.

cleaner 5 is the reliable one, (5.1.2)
cleaner 6 and cleaner XL are one in the same, 6.01, 6.02, Cleaner XL v6.0.3.401 SP2, all garbage, they keep patching trying to fix this fucked up release.

canopus pro coder is nice for rm and mpg, windows media encoder for wmv, tmpgenc has a batch util for mpg also.

Nothing wrong with Cleaner. Works perfectly for me.
