What Do You Think Of This Laptop Deal ??
Well people I'm newer to the world of laptops, but recently I went down to Detroit and found an Emachine laptop at Circut City that looks like one hell of a system, it's only $1649 with $200 in rebates, so it's only $1449
![]() HERE'S THE LAPTOP The thing that I really want is first of all, at least 512 megs of ram and secondly I want the video to have it's own physical ram, not sharing it, which the Emachine has has an ATI 9600 with it's own 64 megs in it. Heck, this model even has a beautiful new AMD 64 3000 processor ![]() Anyways, I just wanna know your thoughts. I want it for doing my usual webwork, plus gaming, is there anything that this model is missing ??? |

Thanks for your comments guys, I appreciate them, comments like that are what I need to hear
![]() As far as the comments on the price, I've been looking and there's not many models that I've found that had those features, especially the separate video ram, a lot of them share the regular ram, which is definately something that I don't want. Plus this one has the Radeon 9600 in it, which is one of the best laptop video cards. If anyone knows of any models that are comparable in price, please let me know, I'd be interested in digging into them ![]() |

![]() E-machines are also known for constantly fucking up. They have bad problems about over-heating. Go with a name brand.
P.S. Alienwares look nice as hell, but are basically eye candy. |

I started in this buisness with an E-Machine desktop and that thing never gave me a problem. Did everything I asked it to. I moved up and built my own system, but I still have that emachine to fuck around with. I have never tried their laptops, but if they are anything like the desktop then I give it a
![]() Alienware is over priced. Your paying mainly for the case.

Thanks guys, I guess that I might just pass on the Emachine then
![]() For me, I'm not really gonna use the laptop too often because I'm always at home on my desktop pc, it's mainly for the few times a year that I head out of town or go camping, so I don't wanna go out and spend $2500 for the thing, however, I do want something that's decent and looking at the specs on the Emachine, it had everything I was looking for, at a pretty good price. Well, I'll head over to Dell and see what I can configure over there ![]() |

Well, I went over to Dell and whipped up a pretty decent system for $1850, which included a 2.8 P4, 512 megs ram, dvd burner, and 128 Radeon 9700, plus a cool red case design. I guess that it is $400 more, well $450 if you figure in the shipping, Circut City offered free shipping. I guess for that much more I get the best video card, a neat looking case, and Dell quality.
I do agree with Sandman though, I like the AMD 64 3000 over the 2.8 P4. |
