"Alien" was just on again, I think the Action channel, yesterday; its so much more intelligent and realistic than anything Rodenberry or Lucas has done. Then again, its directed by Ridley Scott, a man who leaves anyone who directed any Star Wars film or Star Trek film in the dust.
If I was going to say the best film, then its - The Forbidden Planet.

As for TV science fiction, its got to be the original - Lost In Space.
