well, hopefully Davis gets his thumb out of his ass, and gets the ball rolling then... we don't need the rest of the states to get shit done.. we're the powerhouse of everything.. Other states want to be us.. can't we just shut off the internet with like the flip of a switch? that would get their attention.. LOL

Ya know, I dont think we really need to worry about Bush, its Ashcroft and his morality that I fear.. But all in all, I think many of us are really over-reacting, and at the end of this term in 4 years we will all hopefully be better off in our growing industry so long as we keep things legal and pay our taxes.
Ive always said we live in the greatest Country in the world, and I think and hope we will still be the best in 4 years from now.. If not, then open the door for Hilary in 2005! Am I the only person whos gunna miss Janet Reno! I loved that lady! Shit we really havent realized how easy our industry had it with her in power.. Its gunna be a whole new ball game these next 4 years I think.. And its gunna be Ashcroft, and not Bush that we will all be bitchin about in these next 4 years. Bush is gunna be nothing but empty promises, and I hope stays out of my bussiness.. Thats all I ask for. [This message has been edited by boneprone (edited 01-22-2001).] |

As a Texan for most of Bush's terms that is his attitude and hopefully he'll keep that attitude when it come to net porn....In other words, its not govt. job to babysit! One ex. is he repealled the helmet law in Tx, because if your dumb enough to ride, in certain situations without one, then you get what you get if you crash, it not the job of the state to protect idiots.
I've been in this state(Ca) for about 3mo. and it is the most mis-managed, over taxed, politically fucked up place I've ever seen, so Bush may become my enemy in the months to come, but Cali will never be my friend. Maybe they should use the money they're spending on "rebating" car tax and buy some power, or maybe money from the interstate border patrol, or the airplane traffic servallence. One final note, Bush did say he will set a energy policy to help prevent this in the future, but hopefully he will stay out of peoples business, especially their porn business ![]() |

I saw something about that while checking out the news this morning, i also saw an article that started like this.
Hey, you might just be selling power soon, or could go to regular brownouts cause they will get more profit selling it to neighboring states and using the profits for bullshit stuff. OHH, wait a minute, thats the situation we got going on with our oil industry. ------------------------------------ SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- California would become one of the largest owners of hydroelectric power in the nation and use profit from those plants to borrow as much as $12 billion to buy electricity under a plan to be unveiled today by Assembly Democrats. The Assembly proposal puts the state in the power business in two ways: by owning Pacific Gas & Electric and Southern California Edison's massive hydroelectric plant network, and by entering into long-term contracts with power generators to stabilize costs before the energy crisis morphs into a full-blown economic disaster. |

Your power problem in california is the government of california's own fault
they do not allow power utilities to charge the free market rate for power, yet they must buy their power on the free market so in simple terms if it costs them $450 a month to buy power and natural gas for your home, and the government says that they can only charge $300, then they lose $150 per month if they run out of money, then they cannot buy power that is what is happening now, and since they cannot pay, then there is no power anyone will sell them it could be worse, in russia, for example, where the government controls the power, 14 people froze to death in moscow |

After reading the news today, it seems like Bush is being much more active in making abortion difficult for poor people to get rather than doing anything about the energy crisis..
So I agree, if the energy crisis is a main concern for you, this would be quite frustrating. I feel for those of you that are getting affected by this. But on another note, it concerns me that Bush has jumped in so quickly re-instating a ban that was made in 1984 by Regan, and lifted in 1993 by Clinton that provides funding to family planning centers for the poor. Intention behind this is to make abortion more dificult without actually outlawing it. Any sane person knows that this just makes it dificult for the poor to get abortions and not the rich, but thats a totally different social discussion. What should be a concern to us is that these are morallity atacks, promised to the religious right wing organizations that helped elect the administration now in power. These moral attacks by our new leader and his administration should very much concern us in our industry wheather you agree with them our not.. Both Bush and Ashcroft have promised to combat Abortion, and attack and enforce the obcinity laws to attack the adult industry on the internet.. Ive heard a lot around here about how you arent worried about this because they will attack the little guys and those with the sick shit on their sites.. What you must realize is that under the obsecintiy laws, just about everything adult can be interpreted and obscene.. And to make the intrest groups happy, the administration will not waste much time on the small guys in our industry, but instead will atack the big guys as well, the ones that will be news worthy and send a ripple effect through our industry of instability.. Somehting that is big enough for the admistration to brag about to please the religious groups and special intrest groups that elected them.. ------------------ Webmaster/Owner www.boneprone.com icq: 66883099 |

As far as the energy problem goes, its a STATE problem caused by STATE government. If you don't like your current situation, vote out those STATE governors/representatives that caused the problem. Oh, and the abortion comment in this thread is wrong. He dissallowed sending OUR money abroad for abortions. |

Well, speaking as someone in Cali, It's not the current gov't fault. The governor that set up the deregulation is long since gone, and paying the high bills just like us.... Davis is just trying to fix the problems... he's like the guy with chewing gum trying to stop a damn from bursting... if he does it right, he might hold it long enough for the real fix.. hopefully he can do it, I fear the problems we would have if it were to break, and the power industry were to collapse in California. Because then it wouldn't be a State problem, it would be a national emergency... and at that point it will affect Everyone in the country...
Pray for california.. it's sliding off the edge.... Second, Whats the deal with the abortion? did he really do the taking money from abortion clinics thing, or is it overseas abortions? Post # 100 for me, and finally i have a few good thoughts... ------------------ -Andrew "If you're not living with a big cock, you're not a threat to my ability of getting laid!" |

Just wondering where the line will be drawn when the enforcing starts?
A friend came over one night, and she brought up some religious site. Within 6 clicks of the front door, she had some of the most disgusting shit eating pix displayed on my screen that i never ever wanted to look at. They get away with posting this shit (no pun intended) cause they are spreading the word about how immoral it is. An adult porn site and an art site can both have the same picture on a page, yet which site will be targeted? Of course the porn site which shows her taking her clothes off. I know it is not as simple as this, but the uptight pricks who will judge us will still sit back and stroke their cocks while looking at the Bra section of the Sears Catalog cause they are too scared the wife may find their copy of Hustler. Instead of promoting the term pornslinger, maybe we should be calling ourselves purveyors of erotic art. Hardcore video aside, when looking at a plain picture of a naked female, I find myself wishing she were wearing sexy underwear and being a bit more of a tease. It will definately be a bit of a witch-hunt geared toward mainstream popularity of the politician. Question is, who will get to be a martyr for the cause, hopefully it would be people with enough money to actually fight it. Highly unlikely though, it will be lots of the little guys probably. ################################################# My 2 cents - 1 penny and 1/3 to my US friends |

Clinton said the SAME EXACT thing as bush did. He was asked if he was going to try to help out before he leaves office and he said no I will not. Cali has the 6th largest economey in the world yet their liberal yuppies fucked over the poor working people who will feel the burden of this yet I am shure hollywood won't even flintch. Hey why don't the tree hugging gay and lesbian actors pitch in and helpout. Oh wait...they are too busy snorting coke to give a fuck. This is exactly what happens when a bunch of tards called goverment get together and stick their nose were it does not belong. The largest state reducted to the status of a 3rd world country in months. BTW bush won't even bother with porn he has too much trouble as it is and I know plenty of texas webmasters that never ever had a problem. |

Fucker you sound a little pissed with the fact that Bush is Pres.....but I guess your not alone. I can't see why the US can't change whatever part of the constitution to allow a President to serve more than two terms. Except for Clintons mistake with Monica I think he was a great President and if he were allowed to serve more than two terms Bush would still be in Texas executing people. In fact Bush would never have been President if the old Fucks in Florida knew how to poke a hole in a ballot. I will trade your Green Card for my Canadian Social Security Card....we will meet a the border shake hands and switch identities.... Really America should allow a President to serve more than two terms.... Shit up here in Canadia they can vertually stay in office forever. Fucker they is plenty of room up here to hide out!!!!!!!!

Fucker and Solo. Are you the same person?
Fucker obviously doesnt like Bush, and said that bush didnt do ANYTHING to help Cali. Bush obviously helped Cali for at least 2 weeks and FUCKER said "thanks for the 2 weeks bush" Hmm.. Solo wants to come to the US and Fucker wants to leave the US so they are going to meet at the border of Canada and they dont want the "federalies" to acost them.. I thought the federalies were the MEXICAN federal govt agents! I am confused... Are either solo or fucker from the US? I heard fucker was from berkley, but I though people from berkley were smarter than fucker shows.... My grandmother in-law was the head librarian for berkley for about 30 years. And she has had 4 strokes and is almost 90 and is still smarter than either of these 2.. Sorry.. I dont want to rip on people, but when you talk like the US is Shit, I feel like I can pull any punches... Balljoints [This message has been edited by Balljoints (edited 01-26-2001).] |

The following was a Molly Ivins article posted on 1/23/01
------------------------------------------- Who let the lights go out in California? AUSTIN -- Day Three of the Bush Restoration, and the lights are going out in California. Naturally, the Blame Game is afoot, and many and varied are those who are getting the blame dumped on them for this lollapalooza of a mess. "A stupid bureaucratic decision," one Californian told `The New York Times,' which is really unfair. "The idiots in the Legislature," said another, which is only partly true. The right wing already has a nominee for blame: the NIMBY forces, folks who say "not in my backyard" when their friendly neighborhood power company wants to put a new plant next door. Of course, right-wingers don't like power plants in their neighborhoods either, so this is weak stuff. Their alternative is to blame "the environmentalists," apparently for having opposed building a nuclear power plant on the San Andreas fault. Actually, if you would like to get a firm grip on this issue, notice who spent millions and millions of dollars to lobby for utilities deregulation, not only through the California Legislature but around the country. It was -- tah-dah! -- the utilities themselves, of course. As U.S. Rep. George Miller of California told the `San Francisco Chronicle,' "Now the utilities have tried to make out that they're the victims, when they designed the system." There it is: "But-the-emperor-isn't-wearing-any-clothes," so-obvious-it's-painful truth of the matter. And a great many people are going to a great deal of trouble to deny it. Could the utilities have been that stupid? Of course. Why people assume that business never makes dumb decisions is beyond me. In the first place, the California utilities calculated future demand for electricity based on the late '80s and early '90s, when the state was in a recession. When the state came out of recession, the demand was for multiples of what they had planned for. If you subpoenaed enough corporate documents, you could probably prove that the companies deliberately postponed building new plants so they could jack up prices after deregulation. They made fantastic miscalculations about how they were going to generate profits. And now that the utilities are in deep doo-doo, they want us to bail them out, of course. Maximize profits, socialize losses. Does this seem familiar to you? Miller wrote in an Op-Ed piece: "The original deregulation deal was designed, as I see it, to keep competition out of California -- and to maximize the rates consumers would pay for every bad past business decision by PG&E and other California utilities." And that brings us to the really interesting book that someone is going to write about the relationship between Pacific Gas & Electric and the state of California. For decades, the state has jumped when PG&E said jump. Now, it should also be noted that the feds had a role in all this. Both the Bush `pere' administration and Clinton's pushed the idea that deregulation would solve everything, the magic of the marketplace was infallible, etc. The reason that utilities were regulated in the first place is because they are natural monopolies. Monopolies are not subject to competition. So who's making money off all this? The energy suppliers are making out like bandits. Companies like Enron of Houston (CEO Ken Lay is one of George W. Bush's largest financial backers) are raking it in, as is PG&E's parent company, which happens to own generating plants. And guess what else? The utilities put millions of dollars into a secret slush fund to keep Congress from deregulating utilities because they can roll state legislatures far more easily. That story was first reported in `The Washington Post' by John Mintz last May. The utilities spent $17 million over three and half years to bottle up legislation in the House Commerce Committee. This snafu is so bad that aluminum plants in Washington state (aluminum manufacturing is a notorious energy-eater) have closed down entirely because they can sell the electricity they contracted for months ago for a far greater profit than they can make producing aluminum. The $220 billion utilities industry is not a single bloc; it includes rural electric co-ops around the country and government-owned utilities, usually municipalities. They do not often side with the Edison Electric Institute, the giant trade association of investor-owned utilities. According to `Congressional Quarterly,' the various associations have spent at least $50 million lobbying members of Congress. What they want from Congress is repeal of the 1935 Public Utility Holding Company Act, which gives each utility a monopoly in its area but prevents them from expanding. So here comes Lucy and the football again. Now the industry claims that the law stands in the way of increased competition -- if only they were deregulated, it would increase competition, and that in turn would lower prices and improve services. No, it wouldn't. It would lead to national monopolies. You will notice that one reason the smaller, municipally owned utilities oppose most deregulation is because they are afraid they'll be swallowed up in no time. American Airlines, meet TWA. Molly Ivins is a columnist for the `Star-Telegram.' You can reach her at 1005 Congress Ave., Suite 920, Austin, TX 78701; (512) 476-8908; or [email protected] -------------------------------------- Yep it's long, but it does tell you what is really going on in Cali. ------------------ DemonWolfe TGP & Movie Post [url=http://www.eviltgp.com/main.html]Evil TGP - Fetish and Hardcore url] |

Bush doesn't scare me, Ashcroft does...HOWEVER, although there will be some fucked up witchhunting I think a little cleaning up of the biz will do ALL our pockets well....with a lack or minimization of free hardcore online it'll make some surfers think, HELL I GOTTA PAY for the goooooood shit...POCKETBOOK APPLAUSE!
Go censor up your hardcore free sites to cover your ass and I think all will be fine. Oh, and whoever mentioned California's problems....yup, this is one fucked up state, too bad it's the best to live in for weather and location. I'd hate to have to move to Vancouver, Spain or Antigua. ... ------------------ ...type-atcha-later, TheJ |

Just to add something here. 36 percent of the power generated by the Hoover damn (IN NEVADA) powers Southern California. 20 percent is sent to Central California. Only 2 percent is used for Las Vegas (A 25 minute drive away). The rest is sent to Utah and parts of Ariz. Very little for the state of Nevada itself. The Hoover Damn is run by the government and located in Nevada. So isn't the US Government sending enough power to the state of California. Maybe California shold erect a dam. There are large lakes and rivers located their. I bet if their was another riot or earthquake, Bush would be their with the money and anything else needed. Instead of jumping on the pres look at your own government.

Maximize profits, socialize losses. Does this seem familiar to you?
The repubs number one rule. I think everyone should be MADE to read the repubs versus the democrats records before being allowed to vote. Everyone whines about this that and the other thing that involves themselves. But the party that actually looks out for the singular person surely isn't the republicans. Nor is it Browne from the libretarians. You always have to take some bad with the good tho. Electing Bush insured the good will go to his rich cohorts just like most repub presidents see to. Leno just had a great joke about Bush. He's being kept around to be a spare heart for Cheney. Anyone believe that Cheney would NOT shoot you between the eyes if you crossed him? People forget that they are electing the VICE president as well. Pays to look at both people running. Bush dies and we get Cheney for pres. Gee, that would be grand eh? The government is supposed to be, by the people FOR the people. NOT for the rich only. I'd rathe know our tax dollars go for feeding the homeless and taking care of our own before it's spent on taking care of some country that will be breeding terrorists that come against us in 10 yrs. Burby, your people wanted Israel back in the 40's. You got it, now deal with it your own selves. I am SO sick of this country taking care of everyone but it's own. Bleeding hearts crying over the holocaust and slavery? Sheesh its over with. Get on with your life. They were both terrible things for sure, but WE didn't commit those atrocities. We should be committed to the here and now and be trying to take care of our ownselves. We have nearly as many homeless in number as those killed in that holocaust. 4 times + Native Americans were KILLED for manifest destiny. Is anyone still hunting down the relatives of the people who commited THAT holocaust? Does the federal govt STILL help out those survivors? Nope. Keep electing republicans. They are great for birth control thru war. ![]() I think it's time we quit babysitting the rest of the world so much and tried to deal with our own more. (We fed Russia OUR grain and our OWN prices went up in the 70's) Right after we got done fighting THEM in Viet Nam. This country has a record of doing that sort of thing. READ the public records and THEN whine. |
