If it is Pentium M then it's the mobile equiv. of the p4 so it's cool. I hate Celerons (all intel cpus but especially celerons), I'm getting a nice Athlon64 3000 based laptop delivered on Monday.

Centrino is a label .. The computer will actually have the following components if it is a "centrino"

Pentium M processor (which will give u a 1mb or 2mb L2 cache)
Intel Extreme Graphics Chipset (shared video memory)
Intel wireless card (802.11b or 802.11b/g .. don't think they have a/b/g yet)

and they've had ab/g four about 9 months now
i bought my in Jan

Ahh ok ..

I knew lots of other manufacturers like broadcom and atheros had ab/g, but intel was holding out for awhile to ensure that all of those protocols got the nod as being official "industry standards" before dumping a lot of coin into them.

I like the Centrino, but I would prefer the ATI or NViDiA video card though with dedicated video memory.

The centrino is much more efficient a machine. and the M chip is specfically designed for a laptop, where as the P4 chip is and was constructed for the desktop application. It just doenst run very efficient in laptops the P4 as does the M chip. For normal everyday applications as well as normal everyday adult webmaster applications the Centrino M will out perform the P4 dispite the lower Ghz rating. Its designed for laptop applications so it runs much more efficient.

In 2 years there will be no more P4 chips in laptops. They are going to stop making them as of 2005 I hear anyhow and all will be M.
