Needed: Suggestions for Working the Show

I'm planning on being in Vegas in June to promote my content. If you have some experience with these shows, how would you suggest I promote content biz? Behind a table? Walking the aisles? Or something else?

Tables are spendy, if you do choose a table you MUST have models with you at your table to help push your product..

Maybe for your first time it would be best not to get a table and just get the feel for the convention.. You can network your product and get to know people at the parties and around the convention floor.. Bring lots of business cards, and maybe even some sample cd's to give to some serious webmasters who seem intrested.

The models are a must.. You would be out of place without them.. Plus you need albums, and a PC there for people to sit down and browse your stuff.. Parties would be tough cause youd be settig up shop in the convention about the same time most people will be going to bed from the late night parties.. You may just wanna go without the booth the first time, and check shit out. Get some good ideas as to what ya want to do by just checking out the convention and the booths for what ya wanna do the next time.

ive had a couple booths

hell, if i want to stay behind one all day though.

you can always get girls to pass out samplers, etc...

flyers are a waste i think...you need something to stand out

a hot girl is always a good thing. i didnt really see any truely hot girls at the show like i did in new orleans. i miss those igallery girls.

Any surprise that I have an opinion?
hehe..

I see 3 staffing strategies employed.

booths with no women.
booths with women as talent (bodies)
booths with women as salespeople.

It takes a lot to get me to stop at a booth that doesn't have a woman to look at.

But if the women are just to look at ... I'll take a quick glance at the booth...make a mental note and move on.

THE most sucessful booths...have knowledgeable women...that are well spoken...that you can ask questions...get answers from...and do a little flirting with.

You do that... it doesn't matter what you are selling... people will stop by... if you have something for them to sign up for... a girl can get a guy to sign up for ANYTHING.... especially when she is dressed right...or when when she hints she might be a party later...

Any surprise, i'm a marketer...

that's my 2 clicks.

Hey guys can we just keep in mind that not everyone in the biz is a man. That said, if you're going to get a booth, I do think you should have models there. You need to show off your product in as many ways as possible. But I wouldn't think that a booth would be the best way to go at your first show. I'd bring business cards and samples and schmooze with everybody. You'll have more fun this way.

Unseen,

Don't know weather this well help, but i've been to all the IA2000 shows. In my experiences, most of the deals have been made over dinner, at the parties, or while puking out back. Yes...i know that sounds strange.....lol.....but a lovely moment and even great deal was made.

Anyway, i've bought more content at the poker and blackjack tables and at the parties, then at the convention itself. My advice is, never have to run back to your room to have to grab something. Carry a few content pieces with you....the best stuff you have.

You can sell alot of content to idiot drunks like me.

Seriously though...always have a few good pieces on you at all times.

This is my first time around, and I think having girls or a booth is out of the question, so maybe this will just be a reconnaissance mission this time. However, what I could do is carry an album of content along with a supply of sample CD's to pass out to likely prospects, along with a promise of like 4 free sets if they check out my stuff when they get back to work. I think I'll be doing a lot of shaking hands. What is the best way to make that work for me? I could also make appointments to catch up with my regular customers who are there, and maybe they can do some introductions.

Crutch is absolutely right....no question...

90% of the business that gets done is off the convention floor.

It is a good place to meet people and to put names to faces....but the real deal is going on in the bars, parties and the casino floor

Everybody is right about how little gets done on the show room.... my suggestion was just for those that actually want to have a booth. i wouldn't recommend it either...

to the lady that said...the thing about women being in the industry. for sure... but the people that walk around on the floor and attend the parties are 90% male.

I've never scored a big deal at a poker table....but parties .... and dinners will pay for your trip and then some. =)

My suggestions.

Network.

Hand out your cards everywhere you go.

Talk talk talk.

You don't need a booth. You can get alot of business done without them.

Thank you all. I'm still a start-up and need to watch every dollar. Business cards and sample CD's, plus some shmoozing over food sound like a good idea. (Should I offer to buy dinner should I just find a group and sit down with them...see, I really don't know how things work.)

I don't think you read the entire post. Bringing models isn't in the cards this time. Besides, I have certain standards for how women should be treated and I'm not sure everyone at the show would automatically treat them as anything other than bimbos. I really LIKE the girls I work with.

Good advice there people.

Flyers don't work that well, maybe have them laying on a table so that people can pick them up if the want. Nice little booklets should go down a treat. Get some eye candy to hand them out, flirt with the webmasters, etc. Make them like a little porn magazine, with a very brief advertisement for your content URL. Maybe give out sample content CDs with 50 free pics... make them available

Make it nice and glossy. You ever heard of Paul Raymond Publications? Every time they release a new magazine, they put a little promo booklet inside of their existing publications. Very nice samples pics too - I'd imagine that they sell a lot of the new titles by doing this.
