they don't have to, they've bought a very reputable billing company.

btw, here is a good start to guestimating the size of porn industry

""In 2003, the company said, iBill averaged 1.2 million transactions a month and completed about $330.00 million in gross transactions. ""

Bob Guccione's long fall into senility or depression left that company a pathetic shambles which completely missed the Internet boat and the hardcore DVD boat. Two of its best photographers meanwhile have had big success on the Internet with their own sites.

yeah that's the easiest and most accurate way to value how much the Adult Internet is worth a year. Ibill probably only had 10% of the adult transactions in 2003 which would make 3 billion a good guesstimate.

what AVS is offering Penthouse pictures? the only legal Penthouse pictures they could offer anybody is Earl Miller's plugin from VideoSecrets or if they licensed some stuff from Earlyman which i really doubt.

"Pornography has grown into a $10 billion business ? bigger than the NFL, the NBA and Major League Baseball combined..."

"It is estimated that Americans now spend somewhere around $10 billion a year on adult entertainment, which is as much as they spend attending professional sporting events, buying music or going out to the movies."

Hey Mutt,
Penthouse has a profitable website. The SEC disclosures as well as the documents passed around to potential buyers last year detailed a site that was making around 600k a month. This was actually a feat considering they do not have an affiliate program. Mike, the main guy over there quit recently but I have heard that the web numbers continue at about the same steam.

Just wanted to add that the site was grossing 600k. There was a sizable downturn during the time period (two months) that Penthouse missed publishing and/or went to press way beyond their deadlines. During those months if memory serves me correct their numbers were down to around 450-550k gross per month. They were enjoying a large margin on their gross as they did not have a large staff, their content was being provided by the print and they were not spending large amounts on marketing as they had no affiliate program. It would not surprise me if their net was actually much larger than many programs with much more press in our industry.
