![]() Where to stay in Las Vegas for the Internext at an affordable price, i.e. not too expensive and somehow close to Mandalay, the venue of this year's tradeshow??

Tropicana is across the street (well, sorta. More across the street and down a couple blocks) Trop has Garden Rooms that go back to the 40's and 50's and are more "motel" style. The ones on the inside overlook the pool area, which is nice. They are the cheapest rooms they've got and I don't think they're that bad if you're used to motels (as opposed to hotels). If you want something nicer, their towers are good, especially the front tower.
San Remo is around the corner from Trop and across from the back of MGM. It'll be a hike to MBay, but should have cheap rooms. They have a pretty decent sushi buffet too. Then there's Excalibur, connected by a monorail (one that works, unlike the new one) to Mandalay Bay. The rooms aren't bad, but no bathtub/shower combo. Just a shower stall. But this hotel is always crawling with kids. Beware! If you want to spend a little more, Luxor, Monte Carlo and NYNY are all within easy walking distance and are all decent hotels with nice amenities. Or I think the Glass Pool Inn, across the street, is a hooker hotel now if you just needed a room for an hour. ![]()

There are a few places cheap and close.
You better book them fast though. Try Excalibur or New York New York.

Thanks for the replies, guys, keep them coming. What range of prices per room per night is for Mandalay Bay hotel (with the Internext discount), and for NYNY or Excalibur, let's say? Or for the other close ones? So that I have an idea ...
I guess I can bring a second person in the room, they're no that small ![]()

Cash, I think the Luxor is usually reasonably priced & it connects to the Mandalay Bay.

If you want really cheap accomodations, look farther down the strip to the old hotels. I stayed in the Stratosphere a few years back, kinda cool hotel at the far end of the strip for something like $50 a night at the time. (Awesome restaurant at the top too, but you'd blow all your room savings eating there.
![]() Near Mandalay, yeah Luxor connects, or I think one or two down from there is Treasure Island....never priced it but it looks like it should be cheaper than its neighbors. Incidentally, for folks who haven't seen Mandalay's new add-on "The Hotel," I stayed there a few months ago, and thought it was great. I'll try posting some room pics later on. |

Btw, there's a train shuttle thingy connecting Mandalay down to NYNY or Treasure Island or thereabouts, so those make for really fast commutes. It's a surprisingly long hike to walk 3 hotels away! :-)

Mandalay Bay is the furthest south on the Strip. Then Luxor, Then Excalibur. Across from Excalibur is Tropicana. Across from Tropicana is MGM Grand and across from that is NYNY. Then there's sort of a section without a lot of hotels to mention and then you're center Strip. There is a monorail that connects Mandalay Bay to Luxor, Excalibur and the corner at LV Blvd and Tropicana. There is also a monorail that runs from the back of MGM down the strip on that side, but it's VERY unreliable, so don't count on it. I've got some links so you can compare hotel rates, etc. Let me know here, email at mistress at sleazequeen dot com or icq at 1177 880 55

Oh yeah, I confused Treasure Island and Excalibur...they both share a similar kind of run-down Disneyfied look. :-) Though I gather the big trend now is to make hotels less family friendly and more sin-oriented. Treasure Island already took out the pirate fight, but Excal is gonna need a big makeover! :-)
