They're down annoyingly frequently (like at least once a week for many hours at a time)

One of the big plus points they advertise is the URL redirection included in the registration price...

... but it only works when they're up!

Normally I'd have had 5,000+ visitors so far today, but because all my directnic-registered domains are down I've only had 730. This is NOT GOOD

I buy mine at http://www.namedemon.com/ . Easier and more helpful than DirectNIC imho, but 5 bucks more expensive. But hell, what's 5 bucks extra per year?

$5 can add up to quite abit, besides the bulk rates that directnic gives is well worth it. They are probably doing something with their servers and they go down from time to time from it. They have been around ALOT longer than these other guys and are alot more dependable in the long run.

They ARE responding to pings.

How long they exist doesn't make them more dependable. Look at their downtimes. That NameDemon site has bulk rates too, you just gotta email em about it and they'll hook you up. They've been pretty friendly with me, and hooked me up with a cool deal for 9 domains i had to register.

Sometimes I wonder about the mentality of people when they come in here screaming about nothing. Take it easy, chill out more often and you will live a lot longer.

If you don't like Directnic go elsewhere. Down every week - more like your isp routes suck. Directnic offers an excellent service for $15 although support can be slow at times.

Never mind that surreal's site is OFFline and on namedemon servers. lol

Get your free domain name by getting 10 people to buy a domain thru your site/s is what namedemon's affiliate program says I believe but don't quote me verbatim.....

http://freetgp.gabberz.net/ is in your profile... it's offline (404) and seems to be sitting on namedemons servers.
http://www.gabberz.net is 404 as well.

Everyone has to do maintenance and if directnic is going down regularly its to do something.

Registrar: Dotster (http://www.dotster.com)
Domain Name: NAMEDEMON.COM
Created on: 25-NOV-00

Long time in business! And from reading on Dotster, namedemon is nothing but a co-brand site to dotster.

Long time in business! And from reading on Dotster, namedemon is nothing but a co-brand site to dotster.
That doesn't say anything about the co-brand Dotster thing. I've tried to become a Dotster reseller but realised I didn't have too much time for it, but you do not need to register a domain name with it. NameDemon has just been regged with dotster because they're cheap, I guess.. i don't know why else.

Freetgp.gabberz.net was my tgp. Gabberz.net is a domain name registered at NameDemon.com because I recommended them because of a great service. I no longer maintain freetgp.gabberz.net and told them to get rid of the subdomain.

Plus, if NameDemon was a co-brand site to Dotster, they would have the Dotster-type sign-up process, and it would link to their servers (I know because I signed up as a Dotster reseller like I told earlier).

For a fact, I know that DirectNIC is an OpenSRS reseller. But they registered their domain name at Network Solutions, does that make them a reseller for NetSol? Don't think so.

Oh, and "Long time in business!" ? It's not about how long you've been in business, like I said earlier.

I don't know why the fuck i'm posting this but all I did was trying to help someone and I get raped. I'll shut up next time and won't try to help people, cause if all I get is criticism it's definately not worth it.
