Likewhoa should sit down and go fuck themselves! 5 gigabits of bandwidth my a$$. They aren't even multihomed, no active bgp sessions. they have 1 gigE link to Level3, COLO'd, level3 doesn't fuckin sublease, and if they did why the hell would you sublease space from a soon to be defunct company in one of NY's biggest telco buildings(111 8th Ave) when theres 20 other carrier neutral providers (meet-me-rooms) to choose from. Pretty sad that they have to lie to try to drum up business.
From there web site: "Like Whoa Hosting was designed by professional engineers from Foundry Networks and Level 3 Communications. We are powered by redundant Foundry Networks and Cisco switches from ground and up." Redundant my a$$, they have (1) Foundry NetIron Layer3 Switch(not even a router)at the border of Level3 with 1 gigE uplink and 1 /24 IP address space (if they even know what that is). Pathetic! Redundant switches requires OSPF/HSRP(or equivelant) none of that is running. Also, these "professional engineers" they have over there should learn how to run a DNS server. DaveOne,
Do me a favor HOT SHOT, send me an e-mail with your information and see how quickly you'll be C&D'd just like the other cool person who claimed he had correct information. I can't even step down to your level, it hurts my reputation even thinking about it. And how would YOU know this kind of information, if I prove you wrong , will you take it up the ass from an elephant? ;-))))) |

DumbAss with research...
Why don't we go and ask people who visited the NOC what we are powered by... Yeah we have NetIron's, one on every rack, as well as Cisco's of similar type. You are too stupid to even be on my level, powering the largest site through a NetIron... HAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAA FUCKING DUMBASS [This message has been edited by Tukhman (edited 08-11-2001).] |

You are SINGLY HOMED to level3, PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW YOU HAVE 5 GIGS OVER A LINK WITH NO ACTIVE BGP SESSION, NO ASN(AUTONOMOUS SYSTEM NUMBER). LET ME GUESS YOU GUYS HAVE 10GIG ETHERNET TO LEVEL3 ON YOUR NEW FOUNDRY NETIRON. haahah You guys are full of shit, so hey tukhman, go fuck yourself! Peace from the east. -DaveOne |

Who says we dont have an AS number?
Output from ARIN WHOIS http://www.arin.net/whois Like Whoa (ASN-LIKEWHOA) 1122 Coney Island Avenue Suite #213 Brooklyn, New York 11230 US Autonomous System Name: LIKEWHOA Autonomous System Number: 21790 The only real way for you to check on our BGP session would be either you are our neighboring router or if you employ BGP yourself. In this case you are neither. We do not use a Foundry NetIron as that device has too little switching capacity and not enough fiber ports. The cross connects from our layer2 switches are Fiber to our Foundry BigIron router. We use 1Gigabit Fiber Ethernet multimode SX connections to our backbone providers not 10Gigabits. We use load balancers to manage our traffic so just because likewhoa.com appears to be on 1 Cblock doesn't mean that's our entire network. We host quite a few clients and we definitely could not fit them all on 256 IP addresses. As for leaving our SNMP communities open that's not really possible as they have Access Control List on them and only priveleged IP's are able to get replies. You wish you had access to our MRTG graphs =) Also how is it possible for you to test our redundancy protocol. Things like HSRP/OSPF do not have to be publically advertised, so unless you have access to our router there is no way for you to know. And Foundry supports their own proprietary failover/redundancy protocol that we ARE employing. [email protected]#sh ip bgp Total number of BGP Routes: 102252 hmm... can you say WHOA! |

LOL Tukh, I've never felt the need to disparage the competition in order to feel good about our company
![]() You guys have grown a ton this year with the hosting business and that's to be commended -- There are alot of good hosts out there (as well as a lot of shitty ones) and it's more than just price. Strangely enough I had one of our billing customers tell me yesterday that they couldn't get hold of their hosting support on the weekends... made no sense to me especially given the customer. |

Kimmy,
Same way I see it... companies like Candid feel like they need to put competition down and fabicate information in order to show off the desperately low prices they have. We indeed grew a lot this year, but grew not because we just offered lower prices, but because we worked on providing our clients with the best service possible. I remember when we started we had one tech on site, now it's totally different... support to customers is very vital to the success of a hosting company, or for that matter any company that is depended on their clients success. I hope you are coming to NY in September or to see you in Miami/Vegas... and sign up for Sexcounter you might win a new car in january =)) |

Getting dumber and dumber
I invite you to go ahead and call Verio, Level3, and AT&T tomorrow and ask them each what sort of connectivity we have from them. Then add it up, see if you can count correctly. The so-called "research" you provide is childish and only makes you look factual in front of people who barely understand what Internet is about. Seems to me you have just learned the basics and already think you are a Guru. You desperately want to see the MRTG graphs, I know, a lot of people do... but it's yet to be disclosed. Tell me how off-peak over a gigabit per second can be supported by a single gigabit line? HAAHAHA... do me a favor, can you tell me how fast my connection from home is? ;-)))))) If you need a job in the unpaid marketing staff department, drop me an e-mail ;-) [This message has been edited by Tukhman (edited 08-11-2001).] |

You have to do a little BGP homework. You are looking at aggregate routes so of course you are not going to see our individual routes in there. We are advertising all of our public /24's and /23's you just have to look harder. I am not going to disclose any further technical information as your claims are blatantly incorrect.

While I'm not getting into this debate at all...
I do find it strange you claim to buy transit directly from verio and at&t, but don't have any direct routes through them.. (I have machines both off at&t's network, and verio's) theres nothing wrong with buying from level3 solely.. they peer with all the providers FOR you.. that's the entire fucking point of level3. Just wondering. -Phil |

Phil,
First off, I don't know where it was promoted that our network BGP's through Level3, AT&T, and Verio. The fact that we have backup lines from these providers is totally a different fact. Now, because DaveOne wants to jump the ship of our plans that's his problem... yes it's a fact that this week and close to end of this month we will have our whole network BGP'd through quiet few providers. I guess he was to dumb to realize what I was saying by 5 gigabits... seems he has nothing to do with his time. Lightning... Thanks a lot mano=) |

Now that all you hosting gurus are here in one thread, I have a simple question. I'm thinking of getting a dedicated server at datapipe, here's their "infrastructure information" page, http://datapipe.com/infrastructure.htm
Good, bad, what do you think? |

I can host you! We have Amiga500 with 220 MB HDD (thats megaBYTES, not megaBITS) and our 64kb line is directly connected without routers and all that crap! Our line is very fast, especially when we dont play quake.

Lightning -
They've been around forever.. I actually semi-know the owner (he admins an EFnet IRC server.. a friend knows him fairly well). They actually are fairly large in the NYC area, and have some very decent peering. We almost hosted some machines with them, but our annoying-ass piece of shit partner lives in NYC and we didn't want him fucking things up. -Phil |
