Car Alarm Question... (RE: water)

Hey

I took my car into a car wash this afternoon and it got really fucking soaked.. I paid for premium and as usual the car got really damn wet and had jets shooting up TONS of water under the car as I drove in, and I went back and forth once or twice like I always do, to relatively clean my underbody and rims....

Also water spray is pretty hard when its cleaning...

Anyways, a bit later in the afternoon it rained pretty hard here in Socal and I was outside sitting in the car while it was raining in a driveway...

After an hour or maybe more of sitting there, (45min of raining atleast) I notice my damn car alarm light thingy is a solid red instead of its usual blinking red and only when its active.. it WASNT active so that was a double WTF.

Anyways, now my alarm doesnt make the beep beep noise when i activate it, or deactivate it, and the usual triggers arnt setting it off.

All it does now is flash the lights when I set it, and when I unset it. Along with unlocking/locking the doors.

It does not trigger in any way though...

Did my alarm get fucked up, and do you think itll be better once it has a chance to dry out?

Is this covered under warranty as far as you know? (i bought the lifetime warranty for it)

BTW I just got this alarm for this car, and havent experienced anything that happened to the car until just today (with the alarm installed)

Only way I can see that it would have gotten fucked up is if they installed the alarm brain in your engine bay, in which case they are idiots and you need your money back. The brain for the alarm is almost always installed on the inside of the vehicle, behind the dash, mounted to the firewall., On the other hand, your siren may have gotten flooded and is causing a short in the system somehow, sirens are usually placed under the hood. Give it a day to dry and try it again, if nothing take it back to the installers.

Almost every alarm has a way to make it arm in silent mode it just depends on the alarm. You should have a reset button somewhere and a valet switch.

I really doubt you fucked up your the alarm. The main uint is in your dash somewhere, not on the outside of your car. Only wires on the outside and the horn.

sounds like the wires just got wet (happens to my truck
all the time when its humid out, the moisture in the air
fucks my radio up)

the alarm is still working, so just give it a day to
dry off and it SHOULD work. if it doesnt, go back
and have them reinstall a new one.

I can bet it has nothing to do with the rain or water. Do you know where your valet switch is? You could have moved it without knowing it.

If any of your car eletronics are getting wet they did a crappy install job on them and did something they shouldn't have done.

Valet switch is usually installed near the pedals under the dash. like in the side kick panel.

Somewhere near your steering wheel toward the bottom, usally at the very end on the dash near your keens or along the the top of the carpet. If you find it turn your key to the on position then move the valet switch, if the key is not on it will not work.
