affiliate scams

You know whats worse then someone who joins a website then claims he didn't ... an affiliate who joins an affiliate program , has abunch of his friends or partners, join websites under his ID and then call the call center claiming he did not make the purchase.

Just happens I have 2 of these fools right now, both from the same city, both running same kinds of sites, and both, all their joins have been refunded - infact, its so obvious, I went in and checked the IP addresses of their joins, then went through my receipts searching for those IP's and because they all had one thing that was unique to them two fools, canceled, refunded and added to the negative data base.

I am waiting on their reply to my email, but I will be busting them out by name soon.
nothing pisses me off more then having to watch affiliates for fraud because they try to steal from me!

it was to obvious to not catch - after the first 20 refunds and chargebacks -- after that I saw something similar to them all.

heck I even tried calling about 30 of the people tonight to verify they joined my site, fake numbers also.

As much as it sucks, you might be opening yourself up to legal if you do that.

I am definitely not a lawyer though.

ya I see that going over well in court:

Mr Judge, we was participating in credit card fraud, this person busted us out for it and we feel our reputation has been hurt by it.

What if the CCs are *some how* (not likely) stolen and you start slandering their names?

I don't think it's a great idea to be posting personal information of your (scamming) clients.

they have to be stolen, were you not reading?
2-3 weeks after they joined, they would call the call center and claim fraud, that they never made the transaction or do a chargeback.

now anyone who runs an affiliate program knows most of these lame tricks, you get your buddies to join a site under your ID, then after you get your check, you have them call and threaten a chargeback if they do not get a refund - or they just do a chargeback.

Do I have proof of all this, yes I do or I would not have said anything. Since I have my own merchant account that I run transactions through, anytime the call center gets a call, they put it on the notes for me what the cust. said. After several of these, I run down through ALL the signups for the last 2 months for these guys by IP address and notice that ALL their signups were called in as fraud and that they all their customers used the same free email service.

BTW these "clients" are also on other affiliate programs, I would assume those affiliate programs would like to know if they are being ripped off or they are at risk to lose their merchant accounts over excessive chargebacks, dont you think.

Webmasters, just a quick heads up that if these 2 sites join your affiliate program you may want to watch them extra close. I have canceled them due to fraud.

their method of fraud is to have their friends join your site under their ID, then after several weeks, call the call center and claim fraud and demand a refund or they will chargeback. They aall used the same free email service http://ultimateemail.com , this serivce has hundreds of email addresses you can choose from but they all default to http://ultimateemail.com, the domains are easily recognizable.

Go get them but posting their names may hold you liable.

You may post information that is false and may get you in trouble. Any prosecuter in your state or county would go after you hard with no sympathy.

I would write about it on the board to let other affilates know about the scam and people.
