Do they have a phone?

Most banks are likely to charge for depositing a foreign cheque. Prepare for a possible flooring when you hear the fee.

I got a good laugh when I went to a different branch than the one I usually go to. They wanted to charge me $110 to cash ONE check

£9 for as many checks I can fit on their form at Barclays. Also worth note that they do make a little from the exchange rate they give you.

If I remember correctly Halifax wanted to charge me around £35 per US cheque, Lloyds are £8 for as many as you want to deposit in one go

Most european banks are not keen on checks. I pay 12 euros in the Netherlands. That's really awesome with a 50$ dollar check....

With natwest if u get a US $ account they charge u less and you can sign a form to say if it bounces you'll cover it and they will credit you in about a week.

i havnt spoken to wegcash yet, but from what i see they dont offer another option, except wire, and the minimum is 1000. It would take me quite a long time to reach that. Ill ask the bank tomorrow, i have a meeting at my local branch because ive lost my book for my savings account. Hopefully ill speak to someone from Wegcash tonight, but from what i see they dont offer any other epassporte

Thanks for the response

Ev

One option to reduce fees is to get a US $ account. I had one with HSBC....Then you can trasfer only the $$ you need each month to a sterling account.

Well natwest charges commision of about 1% + £2 flat fee... although I doubt their capability of cashing in U.S cheques anymore, they're recently been cashing them in as CAD, fuck knows why and added an extra $150 charge for each cheque I cash. It's mad.. time to switch bank.

credit unions do it for $8

commonwealth usually screws US checks up which means the clearance time is only 2-3 days from deposit. Also if checks are from the same bank, its $10 for UNLIMITED checks
