with/without www. and SE's
I usually have the same content with/without www. and do NOT redirect domain.com to www.domain.com. meaning that if you type domain.com it'll stay like that in the browser bar and not change to www.domain.com
I thought that was the proper way to do this. But seems like Yahoo is now spidering my "domain.com" instead of "www.domain" although I have not linked "domain.com" from anywhere. Bascially this pathetic search engine is going like "we got links to www.domain.com, now let's see what's under domain.com". Which leaves me with lots of dupe content, many pages included that aren't linked (on domain.com), and the linked pages being removed (on www.domain.com) How do you handle with/without www.? Redirect, ServerAlias setting in Apache, symlink, 404? I use symlinks but my headers look o.k. so I blame it on Yahoo |

I thought it would be a 301 as then google will pass on the PR since 301 is permanent redirect.
I know when you create an alias that the fear is that, although you won't be penalised for duplicate content, but that they may only credit the alias domain and drop the higher PR with more bank linked one, since they will likely only use one domain, but not sure if this is the same with www. domain.com or domain.com |
