An open letter posted on Stern's Web site says it's not clear if the decision is permanent.

Citadel is not commenting.

Stern will begin with Sirius in January 2006.

i believe he's still under contract, lol. I think if he just quit and started on SIRIUS right away there would be huge lawsuits.

He did ask to be released from his contract early but they refused.

It's better this way, he has a whole year to rally his loyal listeners into Sirius subscriptions
