A quick look at browser types in my summary stats shows that Firefox has grown to 5-6%

Firefox is great for everything except embedded video...

Those stats are way off though. They're just the stats for the w3 schools website which is obviously browsed by mainly tech savvy web developers. In other words, people that are more likely to be using firefox instead of IE. Their share of the browser market is somewhere between 5 and 10 percent. I'd be interested to see what Yahoo or Google's logs indicated.

On pure webmaster traffic I'm seeing about a 7-8% penetration with Firefox alone - and just recently. Lots of other alternatives in the mix now as well - and Netscape is about 1%. Also - MSIE has dropped to about 81-82% with the same traffic.

I just *finally* started using Firefox this week (posted on another board) and I really prefer it to MSIE. I tried others in the past and they just plain sucked. Glad I gave alt browsers another try... I think there are definitely some new winners out there that will make most give up MSIE in a heartbeat. Much faster, smaller size... so far so good.

About 10% of my primary sites traffic uses Firefox (based on the last 3 months of 2004)..IE rate is +/- 70% (many people still seem to use IE 3...HOLY SHIT)
