wtf? google pr?????!!
I just checked one of my sites and I almost threw my drink at the monitor when I saw that the PR was 3... but when I added the "www" to the url it went back to a 5 like I thought it was supposed to be.
Why is this? |

because www.domain.com and domain.com are infact 2 different domains.. to google anyway.
You obviously have more people linking to www.domain.com than the one without it. |

Excellent info, I'm going to print this page out and sleep on it. Thanks :P
xclusive, you really think I would get a jump in PR? I doubt if my PR 3 without the www comes from incoming links, as i don't think there are that many. PR seems (to me) to be similar to the Richter scale, 5 to 6 seems to be twice as hard to get as 4 to 5. I could be wrong though. |

It really depends on how many links you have coming in for you. If it's a bunch then you might see a point jump from switching them but it's google so common sense doesn't always work...

If you have millions of pages linking to www. and you get a PR 5 and you have a handful of sites linking to the other, but those sites have PR's higher than 5.... then yeah, it *might* have an effect on your overall rank. |
