The Minute Men

Everyone's probably heard of the Minute Men project ( MMproject ) .. They are a group of concerned U.S. citizens who are tired of the Government not doing shit about illegal immigration, specifically along the Arizona border (where currently, about half of all illegal immigrants cross).

My question is for those of you who are extremely liberal and who live in California. I've seen you on this board complain and tell us how the illegals have fucked over your state (eating up government health program $$ like theres no tomorrow) . How can you support groups such as the ACLU, who are currently SUING anyone who joins this Minute Men Project voluntarily, yes, they are out there taking names and suing anyone who choose to report illegal immigration (remember, MM only report, they dont confront Illegals). They are being calling everything from religious nuts to racists... If immigrants are fucking over your states, then why the fuck would you want to punish Americans who are just trying to bring attention to a HUGE problem, which Pres. Bush won't touch, because he's afraid of losing Hispanic votes...

I don't support vigilante groups. We should recruit those "Minute Men" into the Coast Guard. Oh, wait, the Coast Guard is busy over in Irag.

The ACLU is not against religion. Just go to Vegas and see the religious right on the street preaching to you and handing you flyers. The ACLU defended their right to speech on the streets of Vegas and the rest of the US.

ACLU is not against religion? Where have you been man, they've sued nearly every city with any Religious(Christain, big surprise) connotation , good example of this is the City of Los Angeles' seal, had a reference to the Cross on it. Guess what? ACLU sued, demanded it to be taken down. Now that's freedom, huh? You're Vegas reference has nothing to do with this issue, btw. What you smoking hippie? lol

Know your shit before you reply and sound ignorant. Go sue some minutemen trying to protect your ass from getting JIHAD'd.

His Vegas issue has everything to do with it. The ACLU will and often does defend religious individuals and organizations when one of their rights have been violated. The Vegas issue was just a case in point where they did so.

Yes it is very easy to hate the ACLU, afterall they do defend the most dispicable and outright offensive speech possibly imagined, yet this type of speech was exactly why the bill of rights was written.

Do they sue to have a seperation between church and state? Yes for damn sure they do and should. Now perhaps if you think for a minute or a few years you may relize that maybe the ACLU is trying to prevent the very thing you are concerned about. A Government ran and controlled by fanatical religious nutcases who will announce a religious war against another, i.e. Jihad.

Yes I support the ACLU for many reasons.
No I do not have a problem with illegal immigration since I can see beyond the bullshit cloud and understand our economy is built on the back of illegals.

Let me just say how you are being SO responsible with that point of view.. You know, in fact, when I take my dog for a walk down the street, he has knack for shitting on peoples lawns non-stop, he loves doing that. Is it good for their lawn? Yea, good fertilization, but do I let him do it? No, because the neighbors would get pissed off and beat my ass. Then things would get out of hand, wherever I'd take him from then on, he'd think he could shit on any lawn, everywhere....

Do you see the bigger picture.....or no, maybe we should just let them come in nonstop, open borders, no checkpoints, thats freedom huh? good for the country, huh? CROCK of shit, think before you take a side on something, I know you by default can't agree with any conservative thinking no matter what, because you might be labeled as religious nut, but FUCK IT. This is our country, our security we're talking about here, who cares what people will call u or think, its about taking care of our SHIT.

Taking the above at face value, you illustrate both the need for an organization like the ACLU and the reason why they are acting against Minute Men...

As you observe, some people want to see symbols of a specific religion, others do not. Both are equally entitled to express that view to anyone prepared to listen. The next option, if either believe that a constitutional issue is involved, is to go to court. And that is the point of the ACLU which many people miss: they do not support issues, they fight attempts to undermine the Constitution. I don't like some of the issues which benefit. Neither apparently do you. But in any event it is a court which decides whether they have made a case or not.

Put it another way, for every case that the ACLU wins, some court in the land has agreed that there has been an unconstitutional act. Without someone bringing these cases, it would not be long before the Constitution was in tatters. Even if you want to argue that parts of it need amendment, it is ultimately safer for us all if such changes are done via the ballot box and not through the back door.

As to the MM issue... you start off with the "respectable" line about employment etc., but end up with rubbish about "jihads". I suspect that straightforward prejudice is what motivates many MM supporters.

Surpise I am a conservative, just happen to be of the old school type.

Yes freedom is no checkpoints, and borders but we could not really have that now can we? It would be afterall umm whats that word, oh yeah free.

Good for the country, yes it is. Sure everyone looks at the free medical and education expenses due to illegal immigrant workers per person. Though nobody every puts that number per person in tax dollars spent against what it saves the everyday citizen in this country in regards to nearly everything we eat. Or are you of the mindset that those veggies pick themselves or would cost close to what they do if union labor was envolved, or hell even minimum wage?

Also please note, not once have I labeled you a religious nut.

I live in Downtown Los Angeles, and I for one am sick of all the fuckin? illegals here. I also don't see myself as a liberal or conservative, but someone who see good and bad on both sides. I am all for the people of the MM project. Because Bush and all other politicians are afraid to touch this subject with a ten foot pole, our borders are ridiculously unsafe and vulnerable. We need people to stand up for where our system fails. And I applaud the Minute Men.

I also see the ACLU as a huge crock of shit. While they know they cannot win most of the cases they bring to court, they still do so, just to gain free press for themselves. Just like fat people that try and sue McDonalds, they are simply wasting this countries time and money with their frivolous lawuits, with no legal standing.

Yea just Google minutemen, or try http://news.google.com Then search minutemen on News Search bar. One website in there even has pics of ACLU (looks like a couple of 20 something stoner-hippies) actually camped near the MinuteMen, and they are watching the Minute Men, watching the illegals.

Letting citizens who are not fully trained for law enforcement roles play cop for a day is a big mistake.

Sooner or later someone is going to get hurt or killed out there. Those are dangerous areas and I don't think these minute men realize how nasty Mexican smugglers can be if you fuck with them.

What next, letting citizens go around on our streets asking people for their immigration cards because they are hispanic?

Law enforcement should be handled by professionals only. End of story.

As stated before...they are not enforcing law...just reporting. And the "fully trained" law enforcers are doing nothing to improve the situation anyway.

I'm not sure you get what the facts are on this story (please dont take this as a diss, im not trying to insult) But the Minute Men , yes, some of them are armed, but none of them are confronting Illegals, all they are doing is keeping watch on areas of high traffic, they are spotting them, reporting them to Border Patrol, and Patrol is making the arrests. That is no more different than your average "Neighborhood Watch" in any given American suburb.
I see your point on the vigilante issue, as far as it getting out of control, that is a valid point. But, you must understand this is more of a symbolic gesture from the Minute Men. All they want is some exposure on this issue, they want this issue on the forefront of the American public. I'm glad someone is tackling this huge problem, since George Bush would rather keep his Hispanic voters happy.

I'm not sure you've ever lived in Communist China. That's how it starts. Turning the citizens into pawns of the regime reporting on suspicious activities of their neighbors.

While I'm an isolationist politically, it's just a basic economic fact that our economy would crash instantaneously if we were to stop "illegal" immigration. The same problem exists for our immigration policy as for our drug policy. We as much support it and allow it as fight it.

Politicians are gameshow hosts without the balls to declare a loser.

Anybody got the tin foil hat pic ready? So we're pawns if we decide the govt. isn't doing their job about wetbacks coming thru at record numbers and shitting all over our country?

If you don't think there is a problem, just take a nice stroll downtown L.A. and see what GREAT things illegals are doing for the economy! Selling fake ID's, drugs, and prostitution! Yea, real great for the economy!

Right, so instead we should give them all our money so they can set up an official Government centralised organisation to manage the problem? (obviously something they aren't doing).

Downtown LA, exactly. This is the bullshit I get to see from my apartment on Spring St...a goddamn march of illegal mexicans wanting full rights and drivers licenses.

Viva Mexico? Go back if you love it so much.

Selling fake ids: well no shit they are illegal immigrants.
Selling drugs: well um this is not just a immigrant issue and honestly the drug war and its laws are just idiotic.
Prostitution: See comment about drug laws.

Brisk has creditability, you on the other hand have a unclickable sig button. This would push the balance of the scales more your way deciding who is a surfer.

You're weak. You post false information, then when asked to back up your claim you try to spin your way out of the situation by throwing insults.

You really are a kid.

First off, you guys need to remember that the ACLU is a business. They will not take a case, unless there is mojor piblic appeal, and some way for them to make money. I have had to deal with them before.

And as for the border issue, some of you guys need to read your history books.
