As a published author, Gary Kremen contributed to The Standards Edge: Dynamic Tension (Sheridan Books, 2004), having written the chapter titled Standards In Search Engine Advertising Information Exchange and Arbitrage. He was a successful plaintiff in Kremen vs. Cohen, Network Solutions, et. el. In the lawsuit, he was awarded a $65 million verdict that was appealed by Cohen all the way to the US Supreme Court. With respect to Network Solutions, Kremen's successful appeal to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal created the precedent that domain names are property and subject to conversion, as well as other property related torts. Max Ralli and Daniel Ruzzini, boyhood friends, started their first company together in 1999 in Rome, Italy, when they were each 17. That company, LocalWhois, which provided information about expiring domains, was their first entry into the domain world. In 2002, they acquired their main competitor, DomainsBot, and have gone by that name ever since. In 2004 they teamed up with PhatSoft, a young and hungry software development company, and started to plan the new DomainsBot, featuring FirstImpact, the powerful name suggestion technology.
