The number one question at most seminars at Webmaster Access was........

BLOGS, BLOG THIS BLOG THAT i was amazed but the amount of questions that was about blogs. From how do they get picked up from search engines to blogging software.

I will be the first to admit my knowdlege of them is limited but the amout of questions was amazing and from the varity of webmasters was just as varied.

I really think they should have a blogging seminar in Vegas.

What do you think?

lol ronaldo put fris on the spot during the traffic seminar... then again some people think blogs are new bud... some people (like fris) have been doing em since 98-99 (e/n style sites)

i think people still have miss conceptions of what a blog is etc at times though..

My number one piece of advice to would-be bloggers would be:

keep those comments and trackbacks open and unmoderated, and don't use nofollow!

i know that might not be what you were expecting, but doing otherwise could have a negative effect on my se placements!

The fad will be over by then, and only the people that understand them will still be doing them by then. No need for a seminar.

I agree, porn blogs are popping up all over. Most have no content except a few links to FHG's. You can't make a quick buck at this just like anything else in this biz.

I agree.

We are at a peak right now it seems.

Pretty soon eveyone will be doing em, and people wil learn how to do them and make money..

Id say only about 5% of blog owners actually know how to make money with em.. Only about 1% of the 5% who make money, actually make good money with them.

But those that make bank with em I feel will continue to still make some ok money with the saturation.

There are some tricks with everything, and only a select few ever really grab the concepts down to make good $$ as with any niche..

I remember for years people telling me there is no money in TGP..

All I can say is LOL.

Blog is only the newest terminology. In various forms, they've been around for a very long time.

But, there's no money in blogging, just as there's no money in SEO.

re: fad

you really think so? did you see the cover story of BusinessWeek last week:

Blogs Will Change Your Business
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine...1001_mz001.htm

I saw it and so did plenty of companies and investors.

Plus Huffington launched her blog network on Monday w/ 300 bigwigs:
www.HuffingtonPost.com
John Cusack, Quincy Jones, Larry David, Politicians, Celebs, Journalists, etc...

plus we analyzed the future of blogging at last weekend's blog conference:

and the future is bright.

Bid D! Great seeing you outside of the Tdot. I figured you for the blogging king, what with your famous pics and all! It seems a natural fit - check msnspaces or Odies blog. I love how they've set up!

But I agree that the traffic seminar could have had a wider representation of people from different fields. Whoever is planning the next show would do well to keep that in mind.

yes then no...

it's like a one person forum, and people are 'usually' allowed to 'comment' on them, however those are pretty moderated on most BIG BLOGS cuz of all the comment spamming...

it's basically some dude or dudettes's rant page with pics & crap that people like to watch/read...great for spider food that's really about it unless you find one on a topic you like to read about often....most of them are just strange textual-jackoff sessions...
