WTF? US news channels cut off coverage of Galloway hearing as he makes US accusations

I'm sitting here watching the Senate hearing with George Galloway (google news him if you aren't familiar with him, there's a very interesting story behind him). The senators start throwing the accusations at him and he not only deflects them fairly well, he starts throwing back the accusations he has, culminating with the comment "I was right, the US was wrong"... then CNN thought it was boring enough they needed to go to commercial. MSNBC and FOX News both thought they were more interesting so they put him in a muted side box and started talking amongst themselves. CSPAN2 is showing senators walk around the floor during a break in another hearing and it's not streaming on their site. BBC is the only station I see covering it gavel to gavel. It is a rather heated exchange going on between Mr. Galloway and the senators. I guess the US stations want to edit it to show later and make whoever they want to look bad.

Funny thing is the BBC has done an entire recap, the US stations are off to other things. Totally insane. I missed the first part of it, I hope BBC puts video up on their site.

I think part of the UK interest is almost a humours thing of seeing how the 'polite' US political system deals with someone even the British politicians think is a wild card

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/p...s/4556113.stm# thats a direct link, on the page you can find a video of his entire speech to the senators' committee.

It's quite a revealing speech. Liked his style.

Even CNN UK cut him off. They just did a recap teaser before a break and then followed up after the break with like 2 sentences of his introduction before cutting him off.

CNN is way part of the propaganda machinery.

That surprises you? Clearly you don't watch a lot of American news.

I once saw Leslie "wolf" Blizter tell the audience that the President of Pakistan didn't mean to call the war in Iraq a mistake after he left the interview. No shit.

American corporate news is government propaganda and nothing more. That's why you have a population that watches news all day yet somehow doesn't have the first clue about what's going on in their country or around the world. They do know everything that's happened in the Jackson trial, though.

George Galloway isn't a Brit because he doesn't even qualify as human.

More than half of our voters only care about abortion, what gays do to each other, who loves Gawd the most and other issues that have nothing to do with their life or the public interest in general.

Those things that play out like an audience participation movie of the week; like Terri Schiavo, Runaway Bride, etc...

Missed this comment earlier
I DO watch a lot of American news and am used to them only covering the senate or house live when there is something big going on that the LCD will be interested in ("Mr. President, did you get your knob waxed in the Oval Office?")... but I'm also used to the "boring stuff" they don't cover of the senate or the house being covered gavel to gavel on CSPAN and/or streaming on it's site. This was slightly more newsworthy than the live shot CSPAN ran instead of a mostly empty senate chamber during a recess. Not a mention of this hearing today on the CSPAN homepage. NOW the sky is falling.
