Bleeding-heart liberal: Let's break that phrase down.

Bleeding-heart : a person who shows extravagant sympathy especially for an object of alleged persecution

Liberal = a person who is liberal: as a : one who is open-minded or not strict in the observance of orthodox, traditional, or established forms or ways b capitalized : a member or supporter of a liberal political party c : an advocate or adherent of liberalism especially in individual rights

So a bleeding-heart liberal is someone who is sympathetic to the plight of others and open-minded in regards to personal liberty.

Let's try right-wing conservative:

Conservative : one who adheres to traditional methods or views b : a cautious or discreet person

Right-wing: Members of a political party aligned to the Right.

The Right: individuals sometimes professing opposition to change in the established order and favoring traditional attitudes and practices and sometimes advocating the forced establishment of an authoritarian order (as in government).
