a clear NO from france on the EU constitution

the french are against the EU constitution... they're afraid foreigners will take their jobs.

right now unemplyoment is 10% in france. personally I think it's because they're lazy and they can have a decent life living on government's money.

Why do the French line their streets with trees?

The Germans like to march in the shade.

I've read in an economics newspaper that US companies employed 280k people only in april, that's why the dollar is climbing. Slow, but it's climbing.
another fact : in US there are 7.5mil people with over 1 mil $ now - of course most of them because of the overpriced real estate ;)

The French were always a pain in the ass to deal with! :-) Even on a business level, - damned fussy! But, they got some good stuff as well - some culture helps :-)

BTW... They tend to flock to cities, - so there are some nice chateau's to be bought up cheap - with original features!

If you use household figures (i.e., self employed porn webmasters etc.) it's 4.8% !

I think the EU constitution needs to be re-negotiated and the rest of the voting on this will probably go the same way. There are some great things about the EU but the constitution needs to be brought back up to date in my opinion.

Many "no" advocators also feared that the charter will bring new competition from central and eastern Europe, where labor costs are lower, said analysts.

For the opposition camp, the constitution means damage to French economic model and Anglo-Saxon influence in the EU.

The charter enshrines an "ultra-liberal economic model which puts market interests ahead of social concerns, said opposers.

"To many voters, the treaty is a liberal charter, which puts our social system into question," said Stephane Rozes from the CSA polling group.

"If we vote for this treaty, we are denying ourselves the means to fight for job protection, wage levels and workers' living conditions," said Henri Emmanuelli, a Socialist of the "no" camp.

They said the charter makes EU's defense dependent on NATO, and therefore the United States.

"To many French people, this is directly liked to US policy, highlighting US imperialism in military and economic matters," said Sinean.

they understood shit!

justsexxx: I'm from Romania, we've been in communism 50 years and I know what this "we don't sell our country" attitude means on the long term.
I'm liberal and I think if we'll still cover this socialist bullshit under the carpet we'll never see the economy going up. plain simple.
I think dutches will vote "no" for constitution too, you'll see how this "no" will affect euro in the next weeks

Ah.. hear where you are coming from flashfreak and understand!

I thought it was some banal taught "French bashing" again from the US element:-)

Who knows, but I suspect Holland will produce a "no"... but they will get back to the drawing board and come up with a clue! All this stuff is gonna have a ripple effect on countries, same as Germany had with the Eastern block integration, but despite that, they are handling it - tho maybe broke in the process! :-)

La France est foutue.
En 2015 le nouveau Président de la République sera élue, son nom est: Mohamed Jacquin. En 2021, il imposera la Charia en France, en 2023 il périra dans la Grande Guerre de 23, qu'il a commencé...
Bye bye...

A) As I posted earlier I another thread the US actually didn't have a Constitution and a real federal government until 1789. That's 13 years after the signing of the declaration of Independance and 6 years after the Revolutionary War ended. Until then each state had it's own laws and banks and money etc.

B) yes we are held together today, but rememebr we did have a civil war.

C) Texas at one time was actually an independant nation. They could have stayed that way but saw the sense in being part of a larger union. California if it was it's own country would have the world's 10th largest economy. So why don't they break away? Because they also see it makes more sense in being part of a larger union.

You're being a complete idiot regarding this. Please stop.. I used to like you.

Blah. Just stop being arrogant / ignorant.. unless you're every French person living in France, you can't know what they're thinking, they're reasoning or their logic or their culture and life-style and why they decide what they decide. If that doesn't make sense to you.. well, I can't explain further.

Everyone assumes, when they shouldn't. They assume and make an ass of themselves, because there's no way they can know. The only action or thing you can do is LISTEN, not respond or critique or comment on another country / culture.
