I don't think there is any point in blaming the poor bastards for what happened to them in the KZs. If they steal your home, kill your family, throw you in a camp, it is doubtful that anyone in their right mind will try a revolt or uprising. Because that would mean certain death. Many survived the camps, due to the hope and strong will.

actually that happened at least once. check out the movie Escape from Sobibor

you are way off though calling them cowards and quitters. I bet most there never gave up hope of being resucued. fighting back was always on their minds but what do you expect them to do when all they have are sticks and stones, and the gaurds have machine guns? for every gaurd killed, 50 jews died in their place. even if you were to fight back you wouldnt be much use after not eating for 9 weeks. making plans of an excape would have been nearly impossible to keep with trustees bunking with you. these trustees were traitor jews who were rewarded for turning in one of his own country men, towns people and even friend.

The Germans had been putting out anti-Jew propoganda for almost fifty years before the Holocaust. By the time the Nazis were firmly in place and started implementing their 'masterplan' the Euro-Jews, in general, were a very demoralized people.

Actually there are lots of cases of heroic jews, do you not know the story of the uprising in the warsaw ghetto? A hundred or two desperate jews with a few guns took on the entire german army and caused them a lot of grief. All the jews resisting to a last man were killed.

Its actually quite a stupid question. The truth is, to the end, many in the camps just didn't know, the germans were very careful to give the jews plausable explanations - people were being sent to labor camps, etc.

Why? Because it takes time and organization to plot a rebellion. You need weapons and a plan. You just can't start attacking and expecting other people to follow you. And with what? Your hands?! The jews were being exterminated way before they were even being able to do something about it.

My Dad was born in 1937, right smack in the middle of the KZ Dachau.. He always told me that he didn't know any different. 3 hours of wait to go to the bathroom, if you peed yourself they cut your weenie off in front of everybody. My dad was released in 1944..

The kids were mainly used for testing.. So he lived.. I guess he was not a weakling like you suggest. At least he made it,, and my Grandmother made it too. (She passed in 1987)
