2257 and where records are kept

For webmasters that work at home, they will soon need to lease office space to keep their records unless they want to disclose their home address on their sites. Some webmasters may get a few stalkers

From what I understand, yes. The regs require the records be kept onsite by the secondary producer.

if you "work" at home, meaning that is where you are predominately at, you must have the records at home.

the records must be in a location where you will be at, a minimum of 20 hours per week.

lots of guys need to read the law.

and the way the law reads, if you are a keeper of records, go on vacation, or go for 3 weeks to brazil to shoot content, you need to revise your keeper of record info to show a new "keeper of records" while you are gone, and change it back to your name when you return to home base.

planning on a second honeymoon, cruise in the bahamas, trip with the kids to disneyland, get hit by a bread truck and laid up in intensive care?

the law says you must be available at your designated keeper of record location a minimum of 20 hours per week.

And your content needs to also be at your place of records if you are a producer, correct me if I am wrong.

Where did you read the 20 hours per week? I saw that you had to be available during "regular business hours".

are you saying you are planning on filing all your records inside a post office box and working in a post office as your primary place of business?

that's what they talk about in the comments section---i do not see it articulated in the law---someone can correct me if they see it in the actual reg.

lot's of grey areas here. they say that's what they want, but give no information about it in the reg---no person to call, no mechanism for notice (certified mail, website address, etc).

to be safe i am going to comply with the regs, and what they say they want in the comments.

thank goodness i am mostly softcore and exempt.

If you are going to the trouble to make sure that your model IDs are 100% 2257 compliant it would make it a bit of a waste of time to use a false record keepers address for yourself?

I think thats a smart move, since beating the regulations on a technicality involves first being arrested and having to get a lawyer, and then a trip to court.

I could spend 20 hours in my office over a span of 1-2 days easily. That doesn't make sense.

A "copy of the depiction" is required to be kept with the records.
So yes, all of your content along with all of the records, all together in one place.

They can't do a records inspection at a PO Box, so that's a non starter obviously.

Also, someone can stalk you at your office the same as they can stalk you at your home....if they know where you are and want to come see you it doesn't matter where your place of biz is, home or an office.

I don't think people really understand what stalkers truly are. A stalker will do whatever it takes to find you if they wanted to. There are a lot of sick and twisted people in this world... but to think that stalkers will suddenly come out of the woodwork and chase adult webmasters is pretty humorous.

An address is not hard to get.

Exactly....if you go lease an office for your business you need to get an occupational license from your city/county. (some require you to have one to work from home)

If someone is really out to get you, they get your office address from your site and stalk you there, follow you home, or whatever....or.....your occupational license is public record and they can get your info from there.

It's not as big a deal as people think for 99% of us.
The ones I imagine that have to be worried are the camgirls that run their own sites from home....having to put their home addy on thier site is scary.

well assuming your "office" in the same town of your house and your name is going to be the same. How hard would it to be for someone to find you.? I'm the only on in my town and in fact probally within 200 miles with my last name other than my son. So getting an "office" would be a waste as far as avoiding "stalkers".
