It will thin the herd, which is a good thing.

Yes I have.
I wouldnt mind the sucking down of free hardcore content and a little centralisation of the content producers.

Resulting in a more fair game in the long term.

I was talking more in terms of the government stepping on our toes, not "centraliZing" the producers. Have you ever considered residency in China?

Its good, harsh but good.

As has already been mentioned, its gonna thin the herd meaning those of us who treat this like a business and not a hobby (like 90% of GFY) will start making more money.

In addition, itll also take a step in the direction of regulated industry which has been needed for a VERY long time, once we become regulated, in the eyes of those who want to see porn erradicated, we become 'legitimate'

I do hope we go the direction of governmental regulation, we've pretty much fucked the industry up ourselves over the past 5 years, someone needs to come and take out the trash

Regards,

Lee

You really believe we will become "legitimate" in the eyes of the majority?

By becoming regulated? Yes i do.

Online porn is one of the only industries left with no regulatory body. Nobody to fight for us and with us. We have no guidelines to follow therefore online porn is a clusterfuck. We are open to letting any schmuck with an internet connection and pc work in the industry.

Lee

I think that as long as there is religion then we will be the black sheep of entertainment. People will be constantly reminded how "bad" porn is, and how you will go to hell for even looking at it, and will continue to not talk about it and look down upon anyone who does. Everyone fucking looks at porn, but as long as its considered "immoral" or "wrong" or what the fuck ever by the majority of the population, we aren't going to be considered a legitimate industry by this government. In other words, as long as the religious wackos run this country, we will be considered heathens.

Which non-us webmasters?

I have to abide by these new regulations to, the difference is, we are running a business and, under the 2257 law that has been current up until midnight, we were required to hold all model ids.

As a company we also kept records of the urls where these photo sets were being used, we also kept details of the content providers we purchased the sets from, any half decent company would have done the same.

Just because some webmasters chose not to follow the law and get model ids as they were required to do and, because they didnt keep decent records should they need to use them in court at a later date, that isnt my problem.

It took us all of 7 days to become compliant with these new regulations, probably took us about an hour a day to sort stuff out for cross referencing etc etc.

Regards,

Lee

But what does that have to do with government regulation of the adult industry? Nothing whatsoever.

Stem Cell research is regulated by the government, there are people opposed to that, 3 strikes and you are out is regulated by the government, people are opposed to that.

The difference is, if we become regulated as an industry, people can oppose us as much as they like but, they wont be able to do shit about it

Lee

im not sure if this is related or not, but my spam has decreased DRAMATICALLY this week lol i used to get 20-30 a day, now im only getting about 3-5. w00t w00t.

but you're right, its gonna make alot of webmasters and a few programs say "fuck it, im out!" ....both immediatly & within a years time, i believe.
i think its great. weed out the not-so-serious webmasters, and only newbies that REALLY and TRULY wanna run their own biz in this, will actually try and learn the ropes. MUCH needed, imho.

I love his new staement at the bottom of his site

"OH CANADA! Sperm Shack is canadian owned" and he has 2 canadian flags on each side of OH CANADA!

http://spermshack.com/

And check out his trade links almost NONE of them are complying either and these are all thumb tgps/mpgs.

Question..
Why don't you US webmaster move your servers offshore , close your US company and establish a new one also offshore? Wouldn't that solve your problem? Then US goverment would loose their tax money and could finally look back and say "damn, we are such dumb asses"

I'd say that the majority of the small player, US-based adult industry types will be hurt bad by this. You know the types, the mom-and-pop or kid-in-basement startups. Most of us were there, at one point. 2257 means a significantly increased barrier to entry for anyone who lives in the US... which, to me, seems very sad. I've seen very few industries that exemplify unrestrained capitalism quite so keenly as porn.

For established players though, this is a happy day. Less up-and-comers to mess up revenue streams. Consolidation time! Wheeee!

... and of course, any enterprising non-USians will now have a substantial reduction in competition. Back to the 90s for Canadian webmasters!

So really, most everyone wins... Bush gets to tell the crossburners he's fighting against degenerates online, big pr0n in the US gets to thin the herd, and anyone outside the US reaps the benefits of reduced competition and barriers to entry. The only ones to get fucked are the US 'little guys'... but really, they get fucked so much anyways, it's barely noticable in the noise.

The hardship will come once these clowns realize the FSC are going to lose their TRO bid.

That will be whats needed for many to start getting their shit together or, getting their shit packed up.

There is absolutely no way on this earth the FSC will get their injunction based on the arguments they set forth. The DOJ has already ripped their arguments to shreds in their response to the TRO

Lee

A) that won't work

B) You do realize that 95% of US webmasters are small time and are not "companies". Most have "real" jobs and do this for extra money. They aren't going to spend the time or money to create fake compnaies and move offshore. Not only that but then you get the IRS after you then.

That is the 95% that we need to be getting rid of

Its the same 95% that are probably breaking the law right now, using their 1 signup a month to buy an ounce of pot or a couple of beers.

They are also the 95% that is making it harder over time for the 5% of us who are running proper businesses.

Lee
