Those crazy Canadians :rolleyes

I have to wonder what the thought process was behind this contest.

A contest to see who can get pregnant first. You guys don't have enough single mothers up there or something?

Who knows, but that's irrelevant, they don't have to be married for this contest. Just over 19 & "wanting a baby"

Vancouver is for lovers, I guess

I'm wondering how long it'll take before some gay guys claim discrimination.

Here's something courtesy of NationMaster. Doesn't show the likelihood of any given marriage surviving, but it does show the divorce rate per capita.

Top Ten Divorce Rates:
Code:
1.	United States	4.95 per 1000 people
2.	Puerto Rico	4.47 per 1000 people
3.	Russia 3.36 per 1000 people
4.	United Kingdom	3.08 per 1000 people
5.	Denmark 2.81 per 1000 people
6.	New Zealand	2.63 per 1000 people
7.	Australia	2.52 per 1000 people
8.	Canada 2.46 per 1000 people
9.	Finland 1.85 per 1000 people
10.	Barbados	1.21 per 1000 people

Canadians are trying to increase their population to take over the world....

No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by Canadians , that as America's busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinized and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinize the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency American's went to and fro over this globe about their little affairs, serene in their assurance of their empire over matter. It is possible that the infusoria under the microscope do the same. No one gave a thought to the Canadians as sources of human danger, or thought of them only to dismiss the idea of life upon them as impossible or improbable. It is curious to recall some of the mental habits of those departed days. At most terrestrial men fancied there might be other men upon earth, perhaps inferior to themselves and ready to welcome a missionary enterprise. Yet across the gulf of ice, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us. And early in the twentieth century came the great disillusionment.

I always knew 50% of you americans cant read well but i didnt think i'd find you on GFY.

"The Z95-3 Breeders Cup is back. This year, three couples who are done horsing around and are seriously hoping to have a baby? but aren?t pregnant yet, will race to see who get pregnant first."

These people already are couples and want to have a baby so what's wrong with having a little fun with it? IT sure does beat all those stupid reality shows you've put out such as Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire, The Bachelor, and The Bachelorette.

Worry about your own idiotic shit and let us worry about ours

What's wrong with it? Think about the public impression its going to leave on the younger people? You register by EMAIL for fucks sake! Anybody can bullshit a convincing argument into making it look like they're "seriously hoping to have a baby" --Take a look at the motivation they have. Not only is there motivation to bullshit their way into being selected (because there's prizes for the 3 couples who make it) but there's motivation to go through with the contest!

Does it say the two are required to live together? Nope. Does it say they have to be married? Nope (I understand people don't need to be married to have kids these days) Does it ask for education / income levels to verify that if they are selected, they'll even be able to support the kid? Nope. Does it ask for references to ensure against one party writing in a bullshit email & then nagging the other party into "going along with it for the free shit they could possibly win"? Nope.

Lets think about the kid now, shall we? Lets say you found out that your mother & father had conceived you and they had won prizes as a result? Most people I can think of would be somewhat insulted by the thought of conception being a result of materialistic "prize $$" motivation, as if the prize of the child at the end was not enough.

I think the contest is very poorly thought out & even more poorly executed. If a couple is serious about having a child, they should be able to provide documentation (in the form of doctors notes confirming they have had consultation about getting pregnant) showing they are in fact serious, and documentation showing they are in a financial state ready to take care of a child.

Think about the motivation for the "less well off" --Suddenly a child is like winning the lottery. Lets think about the idiots on welfare. Wow! Have a baby, win a new car, bunch more free shit that they'd never be able to afford otherwise, AND their monthly welfare checks will increase exponentially! Wow! All their fucking problems are solved if they get knocked up! --Now again, lets think about the child shall we?

I think we get the picture...

I worked at Z95.3 for a little while, still have some friends there (I think they're still there).

Anyway, that's one of the weirdest bunch of people you'll ever meet.

And the station is one of those "listen for 45 minutes if you want to hear the same song twice" type of top 40 stations.

I wouldn't judge all of Canada by what that station does, that's for sure!

You're an idiot.

All of what you said is complete and utter bullshit. I know people who would have failed everyone of your so called requirements and yet were still able to raise a child and support it. People who actually worked and DIDNT go on welfare as well as those who have.

I think you should go and be worried about kids having kids and let the adults worry about themselfs.

So you know people who lived seperately, (fine) and who combined would have failed being able to prove financial ability to care for a child (Not as fine) and where ONE of the two people would have entered them both into the contest pretty much against the other person's will, and then bullied them into participating so they could get the 'free shit'? (Definitely not fine)

Lets worry about the people like this who are having kids! Parenting is much more than being able to pop a baby out, and I think you're the idiot for thinking that simply having a kid & "supporting it" is the equivalent of actually doing a good job of parenting, and a good job of raising it. Just because the kid is alive does not mean the kid is doing well & there's far too many lax parents out there as it is.

That was a world power nation that burned down the White House, the British.

If you paid any attention to current events, that's not happening anytime soon.

Whoa....some people in this thread need to take a chill pill. You make it sound like 10 thousand couples are going to be fucking like rabbits in order to win some nursery furniture, creating thousands of unwanted children to be raised by the public welfare system. They only choose 3 couples from the entires. Duh. It's just a stupid radio contest, who gives a shit?

Yes, it should be fairly obvious that these are per annum numbers. They're quite accurate as best as I can see... I've calculated very similar figures using raw divorce rates from statcan.ca and census.gov.
