Topbucks.com Conversions Solved!!

Hey, I think I figured out why topbucks is converting so poorly lately!

Once the surfer enters their credit card number and presses submit button for the site they want to sign up on, topbucks makes them sign up to another web site on a free trial basis. But the screen the surfer goes to after submitting the personal information has no option not to decline the addition free trial membership. I am suspecting we are losing a lot of signups due to that cause! Many people would get very confused when seeing that, especially when they are forced to sign up to another site when they don't want to! I bet many people are just closing their browsers?

Can you post a screen capture? I don't want to put in CC info just to see what you're talking about.

I get:

---
Special Offer For New Members Only!

Click here to signup for a 5 day No Charge Membership to Teen Body - Five Day Trial Subscription. After 5 days Membership renews automatically at $39.95 every month Until Cancelled.
---

It is NOT CHECKED by default and comes up BEFORE the CC#.

Are you saying there is another one after the CC Number that is checked by default and can not be unchecked?

My conversions with them are as good as ever.

A screen capture? Hmmm... I knew I forgot to do something. I was so pissed when I saw this I just closed the browser and came straight here to tell you what I just witnessed.

The site I tried doing it under is http://www.fantasylatina.com and I was automatically forced to sign up to Slutmovies.com as well. Here is a little email....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear ***************,

Thank you for your purchase of the following product:

Slut Movies - Five Day Trial Subscription

Website URL: http://www.slutmovies.com

You can access the above website using the information below
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you go to slutmovies.com, you will notice that it's not possible to get a free trial.. it's only possible when you sign up to another topbucks program!!! That makes me so mad. I wouldn't say Topbucks is bad now... but definitely not as good.. .unless they always have done this??

Yes... after you sign up.. You are forced... there is only a submit button on the following page and that's all!

It said something like this...

You are now going to be givin a bonus free trial membership for bla bla bla... and it only has a submy button... no links no pictures.. just raw text and a submit button.

Not that I would think that is good, but if it is AFTER YOU SIGN up - how would that affect conversions?

I went to fantasy latina - and it is an option BEFORE you sign up. It is not checked. Is it possible you checked this?

I am almost 100% sure I did not have it checked. I can be clumsy sometimes, but I doubt I had it checked.

Don't conversions only count when they are taken to the final page with all the member information? This force happens before that, and after the credit card information. It was right in the middle.

my ratio droped off so i changed out sponsors and now am doing a little better.

Guess it shows you need to try multi sponsors and not just settle for one.

Poor conversions can be due to a number of reasons...
enter consoles, email boxes, poor visitor tracking, advanced shaving techniques...

You should be ashamed, trying to sign up for your own affiliate program...but I can't wait to see what the people in charge have to say about this.

This is a shitty trend, tho. Program owners doing their damn best to squeeze every penny from surfers at the expense of their webmasters.

But you have to face it guys: when you sell your traffic to an affiliate program you're in the jungle.

Bikinihouse, I went to fantasylatina.com and pornoground.com and filled-in the first page (without the credit card info) with test username, etc. and this is what I get (I hope the url can be copied here exactly, so it can be clicked, cause it's very long):

Lost the URL

It writes there: "Special Offer For New Members Only!
Click here to signup for a 5 day No Charge Membership to Latina Time - Five Day Trial Subscription. After 5 days Membership renews automatically at $39.95 every month Until Cancelled. " but it has an UNCHECKED CHECKBOX! So, it's not at all compuslory to join the other program. Was it the same at the time you looked at it? Because my signups with them are as they always are, 1:40 to 1:50, which is quite awesome. Thanks.

Something similar happened once when I was checking out Seductive Amateurs. They offered free content to promote with so I wanted to see what they had to offer.

I typed in the URL, went to sign up, and same deal, was forced to accept a free life time membership to boobranch.com. (and in the fine print I was charged $39.95 for a membership to another site in order to get this free lifetime deal, and there was no way to decline it)
So I get and email from the boobranch people with a username/pass for both sites, but nothing from Seductive Amateurs.
I called Ibill and got the $39.95 refunded, and 2 DAYS LATER, I got my username/pass from Seductive Amateurs. (And I signed up for a 3 day trial)

In their defense, this only happened when I typed in their URL, when I clicked someone else's link, it was straight up, join or leave, and no "special offers". So I guess they only pull this stunt with their own traffic, not with their resellers.

Maybe its the same deal for topbucks? Did you click a link or just type in the URL?

BTW my conversions with them are really good for the little bit of traffic I send them.

Dude the point isn't that the box is checked or unchecked. The point is that your affiliate is preying on the HIGHEST quality possible traffic and skimming off the top.

You think AVS traffic is good? How bout a spanker who's already surfed porn all day and has FINALLY decided to buy and HAS HIS FUCKING CREDIT CARD ALREADY OUT!!!!!!!

At that last moment the buyers are divided into two groups: those who buy from your affiliate code and those who check the box and instead of you getting credit for the sale are diverted to TopBucks owner's Silvercash account.

I think this is a fucking brillaint practise...if you happen to be the owner of TB.

But you should probably clue your webmasters into the fact that you're skimming their best traffic and pocketing a little on the DL.

TopBucks is beginning to look like a very shady operation.

Disappearing sales on two occasions... accusations of shaving... sudden drops in signups... setting anti-popup cookies for only webmasters... now this.

Come on guys, this was a good program at one time. TopCash.com with CTC used to fuckin' rock!

Whats going on now?

Well like I was saying, type in traffic is exclusively theirs and they can do whatever they want with it, doesn't affect any of their affiliates.

Try clicking on one of yours or someone else's affiliate links and see what happens, that's what I would do.

I'm sure Ali will be by in the morning and have something to say

I have already scaled back large on my TopBucks Galleries... I started with some new sponsors and let me tell you my traffic is converting great with them...

TopBucks Was Good For Me Until the second week of Feb then conversions went down over 50% for the remainder of the month... Still haven't put a sale on this month....

Sucks

jimmy3way, once you get to the signup page, the referral code has already been recorded on your behalf by the stats, so that if the surfer subscribes leaving the checkbox for the other "5 days free" unchecked, you get the credit, if he checks it, you also get the credit while, he gets access to the TB site plus 5 days free to another site, so that TB and the other site can make money if he stays member beyond the 5 day free trial.
I don't know what you are saying about AVS traffic, since TB has nothing to do with AVS traffic, or at least for me. If anyone delivers AVS traffic to a paysite, it's his problem how he manages to convert it. But the fact is, as far as I can see, that you get the credit whether the surfer checks or leaves unchecked the checkbox for 5 days free, it's just an option for TB to make more money out of a surfer, and it's not compulsory for him. I see there is no way for him to subscribe only to the % days free, and not to TB, so that affiliates don't get credit.

Lenny2, I saw the checkbox option for both direct site, or affiliate (code) site.

I guess Alli will make it clearer Monday morning.

Bikinhouse,

That option that surfers have to get free access to another site is just that, an option, and they are not forced to take it. It is perfectly clear to the member what they will recieve if they choose to check the box and it is also perfectly clear to the member that they do not have to choose the option by checking the box.

We have monitored the results of adding this closely and found that it has had no effect on conversion ratios.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this.

thnx,

alli

No effect, yeah maybe for Top Bucks, but when you read this fucking thread you must now that you are effecting the ratio's of us webmasters..

Whatever I know that this is a useless conversation and it's better to remove all my links to your program.

Bye bye

Hey Guys,

What you are talking about is Epoch's new deal called EZ click. Free membership to another site in the network when signing up for a site using the deal. Epoch is offering this deal to programs who process through them - expect to see it a lot more.

I already know of several programs that are using it. I dont understand how it would affect sales/conversions on your end if they are still signing up for the site AND getting another site free. The customer doesn't have to get the other site free - they can un-check the box if they dont want it.

You are going to find this being used a lot in the coming month i think...

The simple fact is that this is some predatory shit...what do you think the spanker is going to do when he gets his CC bill in a month and has $80 worth of porn charges on his statement...survey says....chargeback.

This is a short term view and will damage the industry. The only way to prevent leeches froim destroying the industry is to NOT send them your traffic.

You'd be surprised on the results. The cross sell is clear and the surfers understand completely how to cancel before their trial periods are up. Chargebacks have not been an issue associated with the new cross sell feature.

Well the webmasters are saying it is affecting sales.
Epoch is shit as well.

If your signup ratio is going well beyond 1:2500 I would switch to another sponsor for sure.

If you want to use a great sponsor click my signature link.
1:12 using the program & about 1:38 decide to buy.

This sounds like bad news if everyone is having horrible results now.

Allison >>> the cross sale might be nice for the people who are making $$$ from it, but the webmaster sending the traffic doesn't get anything.

Unfair if a webmaster can bring a surfer to the join page, with his CC out, and the sponsor or CC company get 100% of the new sale.

Jimmy Bucks .... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... 14 day free trial is a long time to wait.... I've sent many sign ups to them and I'm hoping some of them stick around a pay but we'll see about that...

Top Bucks on the other hand is around 1:150 to 1:200

All TGP traffic and really not working that hard.. Isn't this a great Biz....

In the non adult world, a lot of people stopped using Amazon's affiliate program because Amazon started doing adding more links, and doing more things to try to get affiliate sent traffic to buy things that affiliates don't get paid on.

I'm not commenting on any specific sponsor, but if any sponsor is going to sell a surfer 2 memberships, and only pay us for one, then they should be honest about it and tell us.

Instead of saying $40 per signup, they should say $20 per signup, or they should pay $80 when the person we sent signs up for two memberships.

Again, I'm not saying they shouldn't do it, but they should be clear and honest about what they are doing. If they give us the information up front, then we can decide is that idea, and that payout structure works for us.

If you have to find out about this kind of stuff from some guy/girl on a bulletin board, then it gives the appearance of being sneaky, whether it really is or not.

Alli... your missing the MAJOR POINT!

the fact that the surfer has an option to sign-up somewhere else, after they ALREADY signed up (user, e-mail and pass)

We don't give a shit about the results. The fact that you you are taking away a for sure sale ...

It's like I said to Amber of Flynt Digital just the other day, "It's a shame what goes on within the Adult Online Industry ... Shaving and other Bullshit happends so much we have, sadly, come to accept it ... ... You wouldn't get far in 'real-life' biz if you tried some of these pratices ... the REALLY sad part is that the companyies (and People) that pull these stunts seem to Excell

ld & Jimmy3way ... some times I just close my eyes and remeber the good old CTC TopCash days ... all good things must come to an end, it seems.

It's a check box... how many times have you gone somewhere and seen a check box when you sign up? Shit... typing right now on this gfy post I see 3 check boxes below me.

They don't have the option to sign up somewhere else. They have the option to get a free trial to another site along with their paid membership. If anything, to many surfers it looks like an added incentive to sign up (a free trial to more porn).

There is no link or advertisement to divert the surfers attention- it is 3 lines of text and a check box...

Allison--

So, Is it possible to loose sales due to the cross billing?

Also, do you make the exact same cross billing offer for every affiliate?

Some said they saw the free signup offer was AFTER the card number was entered and they could not uncheck the box, and some said it was BEFORE and you had to check the box.

Are some affiliates getting different signup pages then others? This could explain whay some webmasters have maintained good conversions and others have seen their conversions get worse.

Cameraman.. the way the cross sell is set up, it happens after the page where the member enters their personal info. On the next page, below the credit card information the member has the choose to get a free membership(that converts after 5 days) by checking a box. This is the same for all join pages

The whole box checking is not forced and if any webmasters have seen a page where they could not uncheck the box, we will be happy to fix that problem.

thnx

Alli

You guys crack me up...

My last payment from topbucks:

Let me see if I can remember the last three threads mentioning specific complaints about topbucks:

1) This one - person complains about box that they claim can not be unchecked AND that you are FORCED to sign up for free membership.

It is obvious now that this was NOT what happened. Person accidently checked the box that said "get free membership" and then got the signup screen.

2) This week or last - person complains about sign up "disappearing" TopBucks stats.

Turns out person had wrong date checked when checking stats.

3) Person complains they signed up themselves and didn't get credit.

Turns out - person did get credit, but DIDN'T READ where it takes 24 hours for iBilll sales to show.

*** In all three cases, the FACT is THE WEBMASTER DID NOT READ SOMETHING CORRECTLY. ***

TopBucks rules. I could care less what they do to make themselves more money - I am getting what I always get good conversions and sales increasing every pay period. TopBucks can add a check box for "click here and buy a house for $1,000,000.00". I don't care. If YOU REALLY think this is going to effect your bottom line - for an UNCLICKED checkbox - oh well - I don't know what to say. If I want to get paid on upsells and stuff like that - I will start my own site.

Alli--

If it works as you have described then I don't see any problem with it. It is just another sales attempt, like at super market checkout. It would be nice to get a commission on it since the webmaster sent the customer, but I don't see that you would be obligated to pay anybody for it.

But if that is not the answer, then the question remains unanswered. Why are some webmasters seeing conversions way down with TopBucks in past few month or so? Has anything else been changed?
