Lasik Eye surgery

OK, I'm almost ready to do it, but of course I'm VERY squeamish when it comes to eyes, but I would love to have 20/20 vision without having to put in contacts every morning!

Who here has has is and how was it?

I'd do it except for all of the horror stories of people who's eyes are permanently damaged by a flawed surgery. I'd rather see well with contancts than not see at all.

what does lasik correct? I have been sorta thinking about it because i detest glasses, but my eyes are so bad i can't wear contacts, even custom made ones. The doc says that they would be too thick.

I agree. Was close to getting it done once and then read a few horror stories. One person's eyes were messed up and can't be fixed. She said it as if she is looking through wrinkled clear plastic wrap. I guy I know was messed up too. They totally dried out his eyes and has to wear glasses anyway. No Thank You. Glasses are not that bad.

Fuck the contacts. Wear glasses.

Facials look better that way.

I have had lasek done instead of lasik. The doctor fucked up first. With Lasek you still need to wear lenses for three days. She put them back inside out. That was kind of painfull. But after it was corrected everything went smooth. I have great vision now.

I had PRK surgery done about a year ago and it is one of the best things I have ever done. The only difference between PRK and Lasik is the method they use to remove the top layer of your eye. Lasik has a much better and faster recovery time. I say don't hesitate, you won't feel a thing during the procedure and you will thank yourself every morning you wake up with clear vision.

Someone told me Lasik is good for like 5-10 years then your eyes will be worse than they were and you will need the surgery again. They also said that this would be repetitive every 5-10 years ubtil they could no longer perform lasik on you anymore and you would essentially be blind. Probably total BS but then I am glad I have always had better than 20-20 vision.

You probably want to get the new Waveform Lasik, otherwise known as custom lasik. Ask your optomitrist about it. Even more important I think it that they use the new Intralase laser to cut the flap. This is supposed to reduce complications by 70%.

For over one year I have been debating if I should get it.. I am so scared, seriously scared. Everybody tells me I should do it. The person who is going to have it done in November, please post how it was.. I should get it done really.. But I am so paranoid

I keep mentally toying with vision corrective surgery, then I back off it. I would rather deal with contacts or glasses. I'm too afraid of something messing up.

If you get the all laser procedure the risks are almost zero. I got it done and can not be happier.

DJ Airek and I both got it done in 2000 and my eyes are still 50 times better than they were and his too. It is so painless and so quick and the results are f'ing amazing.

Search is your friend. Plenty of threads on this topic, including my own, and it's easily searched under "Lasik".

doesn't it permanetly dry out your eyes? or just for a couple of days. My eyes are dry with contacts on.I'd rather wear contacts with dry eyes than have permanetly dry eyes.

I'm to scared todo it. I will use contacts in stead. I have "daily" ones. I just wear them one day, and throw them away...

I had customvue lasik done in April of 2004. One of the best things I've ever done. I did however choose to go to a more expensive doc with his own surgery center instead of one of the cheaper outfits that are advertised all over. I did quite a bit of research prior to having it done, on both the surgery and the docs.

I am still having a 20/20 vision, I think won't be needing that one. Besides, I am scared of surgery, especially if it involves my eyes.
