WHAT makes YOU a Webmaster?

The term Webmaster seems to be used very loosely in this industry?

If you consider yourself a true Webmaster and not a ...

Then tell us what makes you the MASTER!

Considering that my income is completely from sites I code and build myself I'd say I'm probably a webmaster. Plus I have a membership card.

Does hitting the top 5 on Sextracker back in 2001 qualify one as a webmaster?

Personally - I dislike the term 'webmaster'.

Even though I'm technically a 'webmaster' for 2-outta-4 of our websites, I consider the term "webmaster" akin to being a movie director; subordinate to the content producer. I'd much sooner be a photographer/producer than someone with a pompous 'webmaster' title.

Not to denegrate the functionality of webmasters, but workin' directly with the models is MUCH preferable to the comparatively mundane tasks of creating and managing a website.

I am master of nada - the fact that I got access to GFY proves it.

I maintain spreadsheets, bank money, write html/php and some scripts, make coffee, smoke a lot, do some shoots and don't fuck the talent, ain't got time to look at websites but get pissed when servers go down.

In between, I write some software for web-related purposes - but that's only for light relief between visits to GFY.

So.. master of what??

Fuck the title...just gimme a damn pay raise!

When I read something sent to me from a 'webmaster', I generally assume I'm dealing with some zit-faced geek in a 6'x6' cubicle next to the water cooler who doodles sci-fi caricatures all day.

To each their own, I say...

Instead of CEO try MFWIC if titles are gay. This is what we came up with back in college for the top dog at a company or for what we would call ourselves when we owned our own businesses.

Mutha Fucka What's In Charge = MFWIC
