Any good, *simple* blogging software out there?

I'm looking for a simple, open source, php blogging script. Something not as bloated as WordPress.

I don't want support. I want something open source that I can customize to my needs, which does exactly what I want and nothing more.

WP is nice if you want to create a blog. However, I just need blogging functionality integrated with a bunch of other scripts I'm working on. Finding something would save me the trouble of writing it myself, but if I have to, I think I can make the kind of script I need in half a day.

It's easy and simple to use, but not really suitable for extensive editing and integration with other software.

Nucleus is pretty simple from the get go, with lots of functionality via plugins.

Wanna bet?
I've done some amazing stuff with WP. It's opensource and extremely easy to modify the base. What are you trying to do?

I was a fan of WP, too -- most of my blogs are still WP. But I won't install another one. Here's why:

Textpattern is a flexible and elegant content management system for powering all kinds of websites, including personal journals (weblogs) and commercial sites.

When it comes to publishing on the internet, beginners and experts alike are met with a bothersome paradox: word processors and graphics applications allow anyone to do a pretty good job of managing text and images on a personal computer, however the same skills do not translate to creating content on the world-wide web. Up til now, creating web content requires knowledge of several standards, intricacies of competing browsers, programming skills, computer-based graphic design, and it helps to have the patience of a saint. Those who soldier on anyway may find themselves further held back by the web?s purported inflexibility with written language, with its reluctance to cope with all but the plainest of text, or by the unpredictable results brought about by using ?WYSIWYG? web editors.

Textpattern is a content management system (CMS) designed to help overcome these hurdles and to simplify the production of well-structured, standards-compliant web pages. It is suitable for small and medium sized sites and incorporates many features found in other popular weblog software packages without forcing the user into a date-based organizational model. In Textpattern, the content is organized by type.

For other features, read on...more
Plus, as you correctly observe, it's OPENSOURCE -- we are all COMPELLED to try the next great thing -- it it's not, who cares -- it was FREE and it took you 5 minutes to check it out.

This looks good, I think I will have to give this a try.

Our blog software is NOT OPEN SOURCE, but what it is is 100% CSS template, and 3 server side include lines, so you can customize it virtually any way you see fit.

Oh ... and you said easy?? You can be up and running in 3 minutes!

www.dblogger.com

(and did I mention that G and MSN love it ???? As we make most of our income from adsense/chitika and SEO, we wanted to build a simple yet effective blog software from the ground up!!)
