Do you secretely hope for a huge BirdFlu outbreak?

I hope the virus mutates and takes out half the world population. Would be the most merciful thing to happen to mankind since the invention of anesthesia. It would spare us God knows how much pain and suffering over the next fifty years.

I wouldn't even mind if I died from it. It is an important cycle of nature to kill off excess numbers of species. And Humans have been in excess for over 50 years, at least. Why do you think we have such a huge immigration problem? Because their home countries have become grossly overpopulated to the point where they cannot solve their problems.

This planet would be in great shape with 1 or 2 billion people dead and gone. I think scientists have it all wrong. They should not be working on the vaccine, they should be working on facillitating the human to human transmission.

Not really. Even porn will have to evolve. You could start porn sites for the pandemic strain. Billions of new viruses will signup.

Look on the bright side; if not this virus then another one...

When you have severe overpopulation it's inevitable something will come along and knock back the population to where it's supposed to be. And when you've got people living up to their knees in their own shit like now then it's only a matter of time.

There are not to many people. It's just that people choose to live close to one another. Ever travel across the midwest US? The NW states? This country alone could be triple it's size.

There is no "where it's supposed to be". As of yet, no natural laws have been discovered as to what the "right" human population for a planet is

"living up to their knees in their own shit"?

That's an urban perspective. The vast majority of realty in North America is sparsely populated. People choose to live in each other's shit - its not by default.

But hey, I'm all for natural selection. There's plenty of Darwins out there we could stand to clean out.

When architects start looking towards the ocean for housing like they have been for the past few years. You know over population is here or will be in the very near future.

I'd really like to see the natural environment have a few generations of relief to recover, see a lot of species come back from the brink of extinction.

Anyone who thinks each individual human life is precious is someone whose own life needs the support of genericity.

It's an architects pleasure to create near water and it's a residents pleasure to leave near water so I dont think that applies. Although we are already seeing effects of overpopulation.

I agree that we are due for a large scale "culling of the herd" to reduce the strain on the planet's resources that appear ready to burst in the next 50 years if not checked.

The recent "small" scale natural disasters and wars haven't been enough apparently.

But I don't think we should be actively seeking to encourage this to happen. It will when the time is due. I believe the Earth is a living organism, that self regulates itself from time to time.

I also don't think this opinion is incompatible with feeling that life is sacred and having compassion for every loss of life that occurs.

well we already have a diminishing population, dont we? wait for the boomers to die, then calculate that most couples of 2 is having one-two children max. things'll balance on the long run. therefore if i have learned anything in my life from watching the US gov, its "dont believe the hype"

Extending shorelines to build more estates for the rich isn't a necessity, its simply the well-to-do wanting seaside realty with a view, beach and/or access to a yacht marina.

All one needs to do is travel from coast to coast (in terms of North America, at least) to realize the vast amount of wide open space available. In relative terms, mankind's population takes up a comparatively small percentage.

We make ourselves weaker and weaker and more susceptible to a large outbreak each decade. It will happen eventually. I think you are just being morbidly selfish and would like to see it happen first hand during your tiny spot of existence.

Try taking up a hobby, or something to fill the void. It's much better to be creative with your time rather than mull around the idea of "what if".

What a bunch of sick puppies !!!!!

The only sick concept I have ever had is my fantasy for every violent individual in the world. Every time a human tries to take the life of another human, the bad guy dies. Therefore, we would live in a safe world. If idiots like Bush and his gang of warlords tried to start a war, they would die.

Isn't it about time we had peace in this world instead of self-destruction via disease, killing, and environmental pollution!

From a biz sense - I sure hope so - got a bunch of good domains for bird flu

From a population control perspective - its bound to happen, it has been planned for since Nixons era with the special projects (public now) that they created to control the American population - http://www.npg.org/footnote/nixon_pop_policy.htm
and the special report - http://www.population-security.org/28-APP2.html performed back in 1974 by the US National Security with Henry Kissinger leading - and its recommendations for how to reduce the American population.
These are not tin-hat - they are real reports from the real people that ran the country - and are the basis behind why Roe-Wade will nto be overturned, why condoms are given out etc.

Its interesting to note also with the advent of all the new body/hand/bathroom/kitchen cleaners/sanitizers/disinfectants in the last 10 years that the number of flu cases has risen proportionally - gee - think we're cleaning off our resistance to virus's????

Its amazing that the corporations that provide Suzie homemaker with all these new biological sanitizers also own the pharmaceutical divisions that provide the anti-virus remedies
