Black people get more encouragement to make song & music part of growing up so there's a predisposition to being able to do it better than other races.

But people like Christina Aguilara shows what can happen when a non black person gets that same encouragement.

I think it just seems that way because in the past one of the only fields that blacks were accepted was the entertainment industry. the singing and dancing now its sports... all for the entertainment of white people...lol go figure.. plus it has big bucks

Thanks when i told my professor what I was planning on doing his head nearly spinned. But I managed to pull it off. Seperate but Equal pushed all of the money and resources out of the inner city. A compromise halfway would have been better for the Supreme Court to rule...but they didn't. Life goes on.

Also I think the higher crime rates is not based on race but rather economics.. the poorer you are the more likely you will do what ever it takes to survive..... plus black people do not have a strong sense of community that other races tend to have.. ie . hispanics and latinos....... but I will not get into the reason for that in this thread

Is it in black peoples genes? did it come over with them from Africa? NO! The culture comes from inherent discrimination and lack of oppurtunity. Thats what it all boils down too.

Not bad. But I would question why white people are necessary to make a neighborhood a non-ghetto and why such an obviously negative thing as gangsta rap would be embraced as a statement against white society when it largely encourages black on black violence.

You have to understand that the U.S. of today was alot different from the U.S. of back then. There was really no "suburbs" per se. Everything was seperated...restaurants, schools etc. Communities within the city were seperated by color.......heavily populated black areas and white areas.

At that time there were no blacks in position of power. "Good Jobs" that people made "real money" with were hardly ever given to black people. White people had all the money. They are the one who drove the economy. The law of seperate but equal regulated schools and public faciilities. When seperate but equal was struck down....white people (Money) all moved OUTWARD away from the INNER city....taking the money, businesses and school funds with them. Black people did not have the money (that comes from good jobs) to do this. therefore they remained in the INNER city. Whats an economy with no money? Whats a city with little to no economy...a Ghetto.

OH and the gangster rap...women, gold chains, money.....all appealing things to a disenfranchised society. Ever hear Rock music that just makes you want to drive faster and faster? Kind of the same thing...

Nothing I said is based on what those guys have to say. It's my own opinion....which i formed after weighing everything. Like I said I wrote a 50 page paper on the subject that was even forwarded to Cornell West...recieved a nice little e-mail from him.

There is no excuse for what is happening. I'm not trying to make one. Just giving my opinion.

I'm 1/4 Mexican, 3/4 British and white in appearance. I live in a predominantly Mexican neighborhood. I am not a "pot" and I'm not calling anyone "black", just engaging ina discussion about race which is hard to do without upsetting people and getting labelled. I have been called everything on this board form "KKK" to "Kunta Kinte(Toby)".
