Blogs were not around when I left, so even though alot of you people are uber bloggers, I on the other hand havent experienced bloggin & have just started using wordpress recently & I am looking at the stylesheets in the admin interface. When I change the values, such as font, color, etc, nothing happens? the other thing was, on my computer, I open the theme files to make changes, but I do not know what is what. (except for the header & images, lol)

Nothing big, I just want to put a counter at the bottom. do I put this in footer.php, or should it go somehwere else?

yes try the footer. Should do what ya need.

yep...just drop it in the footer template. Would be best to use an invisible counter like Sexcounter. Just drop it in before the </body> tag.
