Will blogs last?

(note: by "last", I mean "last as a good way for adult sites to get search engine traffic")

I say no. It has gotten to the point where almost all adult blogs are splogs or little more than splogs, and are completely irrelevant as search results on any term whatsoever. Search engines will undoubtedly notice this, and they really have no choice but to act on it. Aside from that, there are now so many "blogs" fighting over the same search terms that the majority get very little traffic and make shit in sales.

In my opinion, only the blogs that are actually relevant to surfers and have decent writers behind them have a real future. Teen blog #2.364e46 is doomed.

I think the search engines also need to weed out the dull blogs written by barely literate porn sheep, that despite being completely irrelevant get good link popularity by using link trades.

In the end, the main goal of the search engines is delivering content relevant to surfers. If they fail to deliver that, they lose market share.

The best and the smartest ones will survive.
Like always.
Finally: blogs are just sites, but then regular updated. Can SE see the difference between a site and a blog?
The lines were clear some time ago, but are becoming quite vague.

They won't change anything. It's amazing how something blows up in adult and all of a sudden people worry about it. Millions of blogs were online for mainstream including spam and irrelevant traffic whores long before the masses in adult found them and they will be here long after.

By the way, a blog is just a content management system. It's not like it's some magic formula to get into search engines and 99% of adult webmasters still don't have the slightest clue what they are doing with them.

blogs have been around for a long time since 99 I believe, and they will be around for a long time to come. The ones that dont survive are theones that pretend to be blogs but are nothing but adult pic posts.

They weren't as immensely popular as a commercial tool until relatively recently.

In my opinion, the scale on which they are abused now - both adult and non-adult - will force search engines to change ranking methods. They didn't just get popular in adult, but outside of it as well.

I have found very very little "adult blogs"... Elli has one, a couple others....

mostly I have just seen people making a site with paragraphs promoting a site. That is not a blog.

It isn't just a content management system, though. It's also - and probably more so - a manner of presenting content.

Quality, original content is the key.

The filters you are suggesting they might implement for blogs have already been implemented for ANY spam sites long ago. What is a blog? All it does is make your links pretty and manage your content so it's the same thing as putting up a site that you seo'd by hand or a $20 script for that matter. In fact if you go search for "failure" on google and read the adwords link they'll tell you why they can't alter results like that.

just wait till google rounds up all the wordpress blogs and dumps them into blog search engine and out of the regular engine, far less traffic and its appearing very difficult to lose the wordpress footprint to avoid the blog search roundup

Fuck google. Blogs will be around just like TGPs and Link Lists, however just like those only the good ones will thrive.

The "failure" example is actually one which shows how it should work: if a large number of relevant sites associate a specific term with a specific site, that site gets ranked highest. The "failure" spam wasn't spam, exactly because it was being done by a large, diverse group of non-spam sites, something almost impossible to entirely emulate for commercial sites.

But blogs like those fall into the "relevant" category, right?

i guess you could say that. i think its kinda weird that people say i am gonna build 100 blogs. i would rather just build a couple solid sites. se wise and traffic wise.

if you do it right, you can maximize your earnings and be very successful.

i was gonna do a building service 10k blogs. work with someone on the se front, and i can do the traffic front. and handling the content. not sure if i am going to go through with it.
