How do you define spamming?

Can someone tell me about it? I have probably 10,000 old e-mails from people buying and mostly asking me questions from my e-bay auctions and other such sites. They e-mailed me first and they are all within a year old. Can I e-mail them one at a time and offer them or give them more information? Thanks for your help everyone!! Look for my post on the free dvd's as well

Melissa

Most sites let users opt-in to mailings. If you didn't then it might be considered as SPAM. However, it is common practice to email your past customers when you update your products and etc.

In theory you can contact customers that you have an existing relationship with, relative only to the types of things already discussed (in other words, if they asked you about an ebay auction, you would be fine to send them an email regarding auctions, example... but not about porn or pills or a get rich quick scheme).

You would also have to have the correct can-spam information in the body of the message, including a valid way to be removed from future mailings both by visiting a website or by the mailing address that you would include in the mail.

Good luck... I hope for your sake that your host won't freak if they get a couple of complaints.

Alex

Sounds valid to me, but include a remove option in the email.

explain to your hosting company beforehand what you're doing and who you're mailing.
