You need to access a GSM operator's gateway. Sending SMS messages isn't free and I'm sure they get some huge bulk discounts, however you still need to finance it somehow. Not to mention that you need to be about as tight as a frog's ass with security, one script kiddie with an SMS-bomb script will put you in the poorhouse.

thanks for the info

I'm guessing here but I don't think that similar sites pay per SMS, more likely it's like paying for a server, you pay fixed amount per month wich allowes you to send certain amount of SMS messages

as far as the security's concerned I didn't even think of that lol

...err... same thing.

Search for a SMS API but you'll still need a carrier.

I could be wrong, but I agree with the others about not being able to send free SMS messages. It has to be paid for somewhere.

There are many SMS aggregators out there, who buy bulk SMS messages directly from the carriers. The smaller people, then buy some of those SMS messages from those aggregators. Somewhere, though, each SMS message must be accounted for and paid for, whether it be premium SMS that's charged on the receiver's cell phone bill, or the person who is sending the SMS message through the aggregator, who then sends it through the carrier's gateway to the receiver.
