I'm looking at this place in paris. it says total area 31 M2.

wtf is that? sqaure meters? That makes no sense. it says:

* Completely renovated
* Total area: 31 M2
* Separate kitchen - newly renovated
* New Bathroom
* 2nd Floor
* Bedroom on courtyard
* Price: Only US$ 175 000!

you know it

5/6 is the best, I love St Germain, great nightlife, easygoing, nice in the center, nice restaurants, the best. Even if you have a small 3 star hotel, the district makes up for it all the way. Theres a block next to the metro 5-6 streets with restaurants ending on the Seine near Notre Dame, thats the best neighbourhood imho...

For real. 31 square meters is very little space.
One tiny room plus very small kitchen/bathroom.

~5k/m2 is reasonable, but if it's well-place it's a bargain.
The thing is with Paris apts is to see the potential - if it's on the anything >3rd floor without elevator, it sucks. If it has a cave (~6m2) it's a huge plus. If it's on the last floor with roof-space still intact, snap it up.
We bought a 40m2 apt a while back in the 18th, got the permits to break into the unusable roof space and created a mezzanine - pumped up the m2 to 60 and tripled the value in one fail swoop. We made a killing on that tiny apt.

But if you're going to buy in Paris, get a local to give you serious advice, even if you have to pay for it.

--edit and bedroom on courtyard, while it sounds nice, means it is dark.

you and your friends earn more, but i heard on polish tv that average is $100-$150

in poland everage earnings are $250-$350 per month

prices that you brought are the same as in poland!
$2.5k per m2 is polish price in big city and it is very expensive for normal polish people

But of corse its expensive for normal people.

In Estonia average wage is $800/m and rising now. Specialists get from $1500+/m.

In The Netherlands the basic price is aprox. $150.000/$200.000 I believe (for starters/general sallery).

32m2 is like 2x a kitchen, most student rooms are of this size (aprox. 250/400 euro per month)

Didn't know real estate is so cheap in Poland! Are you sure, that the prices did not grow up the last year? Poland is in EU? Strainge. In Estonia it would cost now 60000$. I am not talking about Russia, where prices are unbelievable.

Sure is cheap in comparison to London

Late last year a friend just sold a *very* small flat (maybe a few sq feet more than the example above) in Sloane square for just over 700 GBP (about $1.4mill) - dunno why she bothered living in a closet in a city, but handy for work as long as you only sleep there.

Sheesh... sounds worse than when I was there *lol*

A mill (GBP) is around $2 mill US - you can buy an estate for that in selected exotic locations (tho the same estate will prob cost $4 mill next year).
