Keep building. One day you'll wake up and say, is this really what its all about, just buying more things every day?

The only real pleasure from wealth comes when you stop thinking about yourself and start enriching others less fortunate and in desparate need of help.

No its truly not Greg. Misguided wealth is the root of all evil and excess money can become as nightmarish for your destiny as not having money. It can addict your soul with massive self indulgence tendencies that you will come to eventually realize is against the Universal Laws of responsibility for the welfare of your fellow man when you are blessed with an abundance of good fortune.

Its only when great wealth is used to achieve the bettering of others lives that peace of mind and genuine happiness can be achieved from that wealth.

What are you talking about? What others? What percent is the minimum I need to better of others to achieve true peace and happiness? I give 42% for better roads and bombs for Iraq. Is that enough?

Sorry but I wont kiss your ass.

Well being in Canada you dont need to be rich to get healthcare.

Yes being rich does make the difference, but the rich I refer to is life, and not the rich you refer to, which is money. Money was invented by man, and NOTHING man has ever invented has been perfect.

And also, when you discuss wealth on GFY you will have a lot of sheep sucking up to you pretending to be your friend. You really want that?

Why do you think he is throwing it in people's faces? Everyone assumed that the finer things he is no longer denying himself have nothing to do with friends and family or other life expanding things?

I dont quite link "I learned the hard way. If you have it, you felt you deserved it." to family, friends, or other life expanding things.

Glad somebody around here has some sense.

Rich isn't just money. It's opportunity and the power of choice to take advantage of more options. Freedom to take the day or month or year off if need be.

After seeing what happened to the people in the hurricane areas lemme tell you the real deal:

Money and power.

Tonight on 60 Minutes they ran a story about a dude who after a car accident was suffering excruciating pain. Lemme tell you, EXCRUCIATING MOTHER FUCKING PAIN will make you sell your first fucking born. Seeing a loved one in excruciating pain is worse. We don't have the health care options in the U.S. like other countries. We're fuck ass out the window blowin' in the chill air if we don't have enough loot for treatment.

Broke = suffer

Rich = DO NOT suffer

You naysayers philosophers do the math.

Well I'm sorry to inform you, but we don't have choice. We are still like peasants of the 15th century, except we have shiney materialistic goods. (this is philosphy, look up philosophers like Nietzsche for more information)

Freedom to take a month, year or more off? I can do that myself and I dont need to be wealthy to do so. I just choose not to have my life controlled by others through debt, mortgages, etc.

The problem with society is that they think pill popping for the rest of their lives will make all the pain go away. The truth is that you can go to physiotherapy to solve that "mother fucking pain", and you dont need to be wealthy to do that either.

Oh my fucking God. Dude say you aren't serious.. LOL

This is so not the case. I know plenty of people that are very happy and yet have very modest incomes and lifestyles. And I know plenty, in fact many wealthy people who are fucking miserable as hell with their lives and all their money.

It might be a different kind of suffering, but I assure you money will eventually be the cause of suffering in your life. It never fails.

whoever said that line of BS about canada, universal healthcare, blah blah:

Get real. You think that privatized for-profit healthcare doesn't provide a better level of service than "welfare" government-subsidized service?

What do you do if you want a procedure that is deemed "unnecessary" by the healthcare system there? I'm curious as to how that works. Say you get in an accident, and your nose is slightly crooked a few months down the road. Is that free?

Real problems (ie internal bleeding) are taken care of quickly. A slightly crooked nose is not considered as a real problem, only to someone who cares what others think of their outer appearance.

Are there private healthcare systems available for the non-hippies up there?

There are four; Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, and London. The government is still debating on if they are legal or not.

Most just go to the states for private health care, which the government can cover (ie gastric bypass surgery) if the wait is too long for the patient.

I dunno.. if my loved ones were needing an operation I'd want capitalism behind it. Perhaps I'm just messed up in the head, but money is what makes the world go 'round. I want an expensive experienced surgeon doing their thing, not someone willing to work for pennies on the dollar by doing public healthcare. Same reason people here go and pay good money to see a doc, even when there are free clinics available.

Money makes the world go 'round? I thought it was gravitational pull.

Experienced surgeons can be the worst, they are usually the one's overworked, and to them you are just another number. The one's working for "pennies on the dollar", which isnt the case, are the one's who truly care about their job, and are not in it just for the money.

People pay for healthcare because they are impatient.

What New Age bullshit is that??? Chronic neurological pain and you advise some chick in a leotard using one of those big inflated balls to roll around on the floor???

Fuck that. Money and advantage avoids misery unless you're a miserable asshole in the first place. That philosophical horseshit about the miserable rich is for those assholes who'd be shit for brains whether poor or rich. You're either in control of your life or you're not.

Greed my ass!

It's about common sense and practicality.

For some reason people believe that having wealth or influence is 'evil' and that's a dumb message. Having common sense is the most valuable commodity next to good health there is.

Now if you've got wealth and influence combined with that common sense then you're good to go.

You can do more good WITH more money at hand than just wishin' happiness on somebody like some fucking cricket in spats and a top hat dancing and singing can bring you.

Just curious, what is the "good" life? A bigger house, newer cars....?

Now if you've got wealth and influence combined with that common sense then you're good to go.

You can do more good WITH more money at hand than just wishin' happiness on somebody like some fucking cricket in spats and a top hat dancing and singing can bring you.
People dont stay rich by giving away money. And common sense will tell you, "If I want to be richer, I have to invest my money, not give it away".

What good can money do? Buy a car for someone that will only make them happy for a limited period of time?

Well lending money is work, you have to work to make sure you get your profits in the end ;)

or not having enough money to pay the IRS and they put a lien on your house or bank account and are not able to pay for your family's basic needs

or not having enough money to bail out a friend or family member from jail (let's presuppose that they are actually innnocent)

or not have enough money for a proper defense in our 'not so blind' justice system...(think OJ would be free today if he didn't have a bank roll ?)

or not have enough money to eat right as the shittiest food in the world is generally cheaper than the fresh, organic, whole foods in the general marketplace...

or or or or

there are 100s of instances where money can make a significant impact on your life

HOWEVER, you are right, there are people in the world that are happy and are dirt poor, now if we can find a way to stick that in a bottle and SELL IT, life would be grand (insert irony here)

That is what people should strive for, not wealth in one's life, but enjoyment in one's life.

I have respect for you Prowler.

???? Are you on fucking drugs????

Where do you philosophizin', patronizin', putrifizin' varmints come from???

Who said money was everthing? I didn't say that. Money's like a gun, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Experienced surgeons can be the worst, they are usually the one's overworked, and to them you are just another number. The one's working for "pennies on the dollar", which isnt the case, are the one's who truly care about their job, and are not in it just for the money.

People pay for healthcare because they are impatient.
lol you lost me with that one.. people pay high dollar for doctors that do an exceptional job. if he fucked a few people up do you think anyone would pay that extra amount for his service? i highly doubt it.

Im basing this on Canadian health care where one has the option to wait and get it free or go to a private clinic and pay.

Good point. Giving to others is very satisfying.
