Joan,

First off, thank you for coming here and doing this interview. I think it is a terrific way for many who don't know you to get a glimpse of WHO you are and what you are about. Bravo.

My Question(s): How many leads to cp are submitted by honest, hardworking legal adult webmasters? Is there a better way for us to submit sites of concern, and possibly have some documented numbers that can be submitted to and/or noticed in some way by our law makers to further support our claims as an industry that we are just as concerned and outraged by cp as they are?

Joan is a remarkable woman who has helped take ASACP to a whole new level. Granted, stepping into this industry from any other is not easy and she's had to endure some growing pains. However, most of what is believed about ASACP is simply misunderstood. This interview gives Joan a real opportunity not to "sell" ASACP, but to clear up a lot of industry misconceptions.

Looking forward to it.

OK, the answer to #1:

1. What THE FUCK were you thinking initially backing .xxx?

Let's see if I can finally put this one to bed.. ASACP did NOT support .XXX. We had a meeting about their proposal to us and agreed that it was not in our mission to come out fighting on either one side or the other. We did however, say we'd support any efforts ICM made to protect children. At the time that really didn't seem like a strong show of support. Remember, at that time, ICM had not positioned .XXX as being about protecting children... it was about having a new adult business opportunity. In the current US political climate, ICM turned it into a child protection issue and we were dragged in. We weren't thrilled with that.

I can easily, but not quickly answer this. ASACP receives between 5,000 - 6,000 leads per month. Of these, about 1/2 are duplicates or have been report before. We investigate all new leads but only determine that approx 200 are new unique sites with CP...

It is amazing how many people try to report legal adult sites just because they are against adult entertainment. Of course, we inform this people that such sites are legal.

Let me interrupt the current topic....to answer #2

2. Does the asacp have a hardon for lightspeed? Why wouldn't you allow a legal company like lightspeed join yet allow other similar ones with similar and more sever content to join? Discuss in detail.

I do NOT have a hard-on for lightspeed... I am a woman after all ;-) They are welcome and invited to join ASACP.

Steve was understandably upset when we initially turned down his sponsorship offer. This was due to a concern that an unusually high number of sites with unacceptable terms at the time linked to his program in order to make money off of him, unbeknownst to him.

To his credit, he responded by taking productive steps in preventing that from happening. Very well done, Steve!

Since the implementation of new technology and procedures to automatically review applications, ASACP can now accept membership applications from sites that previously we could not monitor. Heck, it took us two years before we could accept Adult Dating sites as members; people weren't happy about it, but they understood the need to protect the credibility of ASACP, its members and the industry. If we lose that, we lose the ability to effectively fight CP, so I've personally had to stand strong on some very unpopular decisions in order to do what we do so well.

I respect Steve's fighting spirit and the proactive efforts he's made by himself. He's more than welcome to join ASACP, we'd be delighted to have him.

Your right ASACP didnt support it you did in a letter to Icann ,that you signed with your title. So to the untrained reader it would look like ASACP supported it.

I have great for Joan the 'in the spotlight' head honcho for ASACP.

But more, I love Joan... the person. She has a terrific sense of humor and she is a class act always.

We are both just two former hippy chicks.

I think there are alot of times that the perception of ASACP is not entirely aligned with the reality of ASACP in this industry.

I've had many conversations with Joan about her personal position on things, as well as talked to her and others involved with the organization about its stance in regards to issues. Most issues, especially those that don't involve ASACP directly, don't warrant an official position, which is probably for the best, but often leads to people drawing their own conclusions, and sometimes those conclusions are wrong.

Joan, as a person and good friend of mine, is terrific -- she's funny, smart, and has so many things she can talk about when you sit down with her, time gets away from you!

6. Talk about quitting smoking.

7. What exactly do you have a PHD in? discuss in detail.

OK, you want to know about me. Then, I need to go back...to what I do for individuals and my personal passion for life -- helping people. I won't admit to how ong this has been my calling ( I know this may be heavy, but it's part of who I am).

My undergraduate degree is a BA-Psychology from U of Kansas. But, I found I was good at sales and technology and let's be real I could pay my bills being in business rather than being a therapist. At L'oreal, I was the first woman to be honored with the "Salesman (for all the women in the industry and who are members of WIA, please note this terminology). At ADP (Auitomatic Data Processing where Alan Greenspan was a consultant, yes tha Alan Greenspan!!), I was named "Rookie of the Year"...

In another life, I was known as Dr. Joan...

I am an ex-smoker. I smoked for 22 years and up to three packs a day. I stopped smoking through hypnosis and behavior modification. It changed my life. I became a Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy and developed a program that combines hypnotherapy with behavior modification, relaxation techniques and visualization to help others to stop smoking.

The desire and commitment to stop smoking is essential for success in any non-smoking program, and success is guaranteed for those who make the commitment to become a non-smoker. Do not believe that stopping smoking is just about how strong your will power is; IThahaha8217;S NOT. The people who are least successful in stopping smoking are the ones who think that they will prove their abundance of will power by doing it on their own. Why make it difficult? Use the many tools that are available now to help you be successful. Research shows that the people who are most successful are the ones who combine behavior modification and visualization techniques with the use of some form of nicotine replacement.

Why Hypnosis Works For Stop Smoking

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind. You are in control at all times. Behavior is controlled by the conscious and subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is unable to discriminate; it accepts as fact any information. The conscious mind evaluates and compares information, blocking the information that it has decided the subconscious mind does not want or need. Hypnosis temporarily bypasses the conscious mind allowing access to the subconscious mind. Behavioral changes are then experienced through suggestions. Just like a computer when you update or replace the software.

The American Medical Association in 1958 approved the use of Hypnosis for habit control. Hypnosis is the most effective method of changing unwanted behaviors, such as smoking.

Dr. Joan

Following a successful 20-year career with Fortune 500 companies, hahaha8220;Dr. Joanhahaha8221; Irvine now brings her expertise to individuals, enabling them to become more satisfied with their personal lives.

A graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Human Development and Psychology, she returned to school to earn a Doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy (DCH). She was trained by "Quit for Life". She takes continuing education on stop smoking and she is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at American Pacific University. She specializes in stop smoking, self-esteem, menopause transition, and relationship enhancement.

Dr. Joan has appeared as a guest on many television and radio programs including The View where she was interviewed by Barbara Walters. She has also appeared on Good Day hahaha8211; NY and Good Day - LA.
She appeared on NBChahaha8217;s Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, and Dick Clark's The Other Half.

I brought all this to ASACP as I wanted to work for a caused-based company where I could continue to make a difference....which I get to do at ASACP. Life is about making a difference and helping other!

10. Talk about the books you have written? How much money did you make from them?

I've written two books. Actually, one was a workbook for an infomercial; only one was published and was the reason for my media appearances. Did I make money from my second book, Recipes for Hot Sex which was initially funded by Sandra Bullick (I have the check to verify this!!) --- NO! it was too adult for mainstream and too mild for adult as it was about personal relationships.

11. Discuss the public access cable show you did? Are you still doing it?

It was LA nd now not important as I believe that ASACP is much more relevant! Plus, network is more visible than cable!

Great read so far Joan.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the questions as well.

Good morning! I thought I would start the day completing the answers to a few of the questions from yesterday. Also, please forgive me if it looks like there are many typos. I have a new laptop and can't get the keyboard to respond correctly, so I may need to return it. I hate to do this as it is such a hassle to setup a new computer.

"My Question(s): How many leads to cp are submitted by honest, hardworking legal adult webmasters? Is there a better way for us to submit sites of concern, and possibly have some documented numbers that can be submitted to and/or noticed in some way by our law makers to further support our claims as an industry that we are just as concerned and outraged by cp as they are?"

I can easily, but not quickly answer this. ASACP receives between 5,000 - 6,000 leads per month. Of these, about 1/2 are duplicates or have been report before. We investigate all new leads but only determine that approx 200 are new unique sites with CP..."

The ASACP validated CP reports receive a higher priority from law enforcement.

There are benefits to people in the industry that report CP leads to ASACP - the resulting statistical data. Sorry to be so serious so early in the morning, but this is serious part of what ASACP.

Over the last two years, ASACP has received over 180,000 reports of suspect child pornography sites. ASACP reviews such reports, collects relevant data, and forwards suspected child pornography sites to the appropriate government agencies and associations. These include the FBI and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as well as European hotlines. ASACP data indicates that 99.9% of new, unique verifiable CP reports are attributable to non-adult webmasters and pedophiles hahaha8211; not to professional adult companies. 47% of these sites are hosted by three mainstream Internet Service Providers, principally by one based here in California. Nearly a third use a single mainstream billing company based in Florida.

Our data was further corroborated when I traveled to Belfast this past November, to attend the Virtual Global Taskforcehahaha8217;s conference on Protecting Children Online. The VGT is an international alliance of law enforcement agencies working together to make the Internet a safer place. At the conference, the point was made that most child pornography is distributed by organized crime in former Soviet bloc countries, not by professional adult entertainment companies.

At ADP (Automatic Data Processing where Alan Greenspan was a consultant, yes that Alan Greenspan!!), I was named "Rookie of the Year"...

I've returned to school a few times in my life. The first time I took computer and programming classes at a communty college in Denver which led to my working for technology-based companies. The second time I enrolled in a program to earn a Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy in Irvine, CA. I am now a PhD candidate at the American Pacific University in distance learning program, but I've not had too much time to focus on this.

Peaches, thanks for the compliment, but since the FBI or other agents are probably part of this, I want to keep some info personal - lol.

OK Joan, next time I see you we're going to visit the ladies room together and you can show me. It will be like the time me, Tonda and Kathi flashed each other in the elevator in FL showing which bras we have to try to keep the twins in line

I beleive every adult business should support ASACP! This interview will be great for webmasters to know what Joan is really about. Fighting child porn is a huge benefit not only to our industry, but also to children!
