SSN and affiliates
Have noticed that most affiliates require your SSN when registering. I understand that this is so they can pay you and file a 1099 if you receive over $600 per year. Is this really safe? Anyove ever have any issues with identity theft? At this point I only want to try some things out, so an LLC is not for me. Just looking for opinions. Thanks all .....

I'd be interested to know if the identity theft rate for affiliates in adult is higher than the general population.
You always read how some sponsors are supposedly selling their affiliate email database to spammers, and some claim they are more likely compromised databases.... which would mean the theifs/hackers may also have vital affiliate data including SS#. When you get spam to [email protected] and they claim that it wasn't sold, that only leaves compromised data. Aren't there legal obligations to notify everyone of the breach? You hear about it on TV where a large company will have this same sort of data stolen, and they had to notify everyone. |
