Are any of you gonna try it ? I use Firefox a lot, but I do use IE when I work on my pages since most home users use it.

One of the cool things is if you click on a link for a phishing site it shows a warning message saying that this site is phishing.

Well, I just went ahead and installed it without any problems. It's definately a bit different. I have to juggle around all of my stuff because it looks a mess. The one thing that sucks which I didn't think of is that all of my passwords are gone, so I have to dig them up and re-enter them for all of my scripts.

It's late now, so I'll have to dig more into it tomarrow, I'm going to bed, ha ha.

I don't usually like the release versions of their software so I think I'll pass on this. From the screen shots I've seen they have just sort of copied FF anyway.

Check your host file it's located in c:\windows\i386 I think. Probably contains
a lot of stuff that is not supposed to be there.

This file should only contain something like 127.0.0.1 localhost

Yeah. One of the problems is that if you add other toolbars like Googles, it throws everything back to default positioning when you open a new browser.

You have to be crazy to install beta versions of software. Nothing but headaches and PC fuckups, especially from MS.

I'm sick and tired of having so many security patches, upgrades, updates.

WTF?? Stop, enough already.

Firefox is so much better.

Been using it for about an hour now and it's obvious they tried to take some functionality ques from Mozilla... But they didn't quite get the execution down right. The UI is cumbersome and isn't as intuitive as FF. FF's UI is straightforward and easy to use. IE7 has the same features, but they're poorly implimented, and the performance leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe it's just the debug code that's still in it, but FF blows away IE7 in terms of load speeds.

fuck 'em, Athlon optimized version of firefox works great for me, 10x faster and better than IE6, IE7 is probably even slower...

athlon optimized? where is that?

The funny thing about IE is that I'm now using WinXP Pro 64 bit, with the 64 bit IE browser.... I can no longer test any popups on sites because it appears to defeat all of the popup scripts... even the ones that beat Firefox's scripts.

You need "p3 build" and make sure you don't accidently get beta version 1.6, it's been unstable for me...

Does beta version store form based user/passes like FF does?

For those that downloaded the browser, am I stupid or am I missing the option to put a "check email" icon in the browser, I've been looking for a while no and I can't find any way to do it.

downloaded it, I'll probably give it a spin. But anyone trying has to realize that it is beta... so there will be problems..

You need "p3 build" and make sure you don't accidently get beta version 1.6, it's been unstable for me...

Bugs? That's why it's called beta. Anyone downloading a beta of ANYTHING an then is somehow surprised that it has bugs is an idiot. If you find a bug report to MS. That's kind of the whole point with a beta.

Sorry I've tried FF and it sucks. PERIOD. Honestly I've given FF an honest shot( several times I might add ) and I can't stand it. Not to mention it's slow as fuck compared to IE 6. FireFox's numbers continue to fall so if it's so much better why is that?

"But in the U.S., Firefox dropped dramatically; its share fell 1.52 percent, from 14.1 percent in November to 12.6 percent in January 2006. "

Hmmmmm. Why are people dumping FF if it's so great? So even back in November when the usage was higher only 1 in 7 people used the "greatest browswer of all time". Hmmmmmmmm.

That was the first beta. You weren't even supposed to have it. It was for developers. So YOU are to blame. Where did you get your copy, some site that probally added a virus or two to it?

FF seems to be a resource hog on my box. Gonna check this out and see how they compare.

It is. Especially when you add all those fabulous extentions FF lovers like to add.

Just wondering is a RSS reader standard in FF like it is in IE7 or is it an add on? I'm actually asking.

Totally agree. I've given it multiple chances because of the hype and it's a slow pile of crap compared to IE. If you have no common sense and constantly get spyware, then yes, you should definately stick to Firefox.

Again, I have to ask, am I missing where the email icon/link is in the browser ?? I looked in the customize section, but there's no mail icons I can add. Perhaps I'm just not looking in the right spot ?

Other than that, this is starting to grow on me, I have no problems at all so far, it seems to be working fine.

Just had to do a system restore, (thank god it did it automatically,) just to uninstall it after it crased my computer. Missing DLL files no functionality at all. Just won't go. Error after error. Plus when trying to uninstall, all I got was please switch to another user account to uninstall. Even though I have only one account on my PC and that is administrator. Hence lucky I had a resore point, then it would uninstall.
Bugs I expected but it can't even install or uninstall properly. Checking the Microsoft Knowledge base, I'm not the only one!
As for why only 1 in 7 people use Firefox. Probably because most people don't even know how to install a program on thier computer. If the IE Icon wasn't on thier desktop they'd never get on the net! Let alone even know what a "Browser" is. That's only funny cause it's true!
