As far as SEO is concerned...What is better? A page, A directory or a Sub-domain?
see title
![]() please thanks ahead of time. I'd prefer to use a subdomain...but if a directory or a page is better then i'll go with that.

from my experience they are all the same, but if lets say you were linking to www.domain.com/dir/ then always link to that and never link to www.domain.com/dir/index.html because google will see that as 2 different pages even though its the same.

subdomain is better because a search engine will list multiple subdomains for the same keyword but they will only list 2 pages if its on the name domain ( some se's )

i'd stay away from subdomains unless you're doing some scripted spammer shit. I've played extensively with subs in google and it's MUCH easier to get domain.com/poo/index.html to rank than poo.domain.com just my personal opinion. take it however you will.

It depends on your goals. As smokey said, subdomains will get you more exposure since multiple pages will be limited to 2 results unless they're on seperate subdomains. The down part to this is often times SE's will recognize subdomains as seperate sites. So a SE may not recognize all your pages as part of one large site.

With sub-domains you can target each one differently and have them each rank well for their keywords/phrases. I've also found getting PR on subdomains is relatively easy if the main domain has nice PR - not scientific mind you, but my experience has found it to be true.

the question remains that will google see the sub as a new site and potentially slap it into the "sandbox"

I would be careful though with subdomains. Abusing them could result in a penalty. Even Matt Cutts from Google said that having too many subdomains was something that was going to be looked at more carefully now. In fact, a very prominent adult review site recently switched out of using subdomains for each review after seeing a huge drop and penalty.
They can be good, but I wouldn't abuse it. I've always been a fan of not using sub-domains. |

Young - buy 20 domains - and cover all combinations - no-one can truly answer - so do the fucking lot - SERIOUSLY.
