Yeah, looks like they may even accept(demand) a few days worth of searches instead of the months or weeks worth that they'd wanted.

how can they force them to turn over information when there has been no crime committed? this information they are requesting isn't related to any investigation of a specific crime but is just random information.

it's like requiring a store owner to surrender his surveillence tapes just to spy on people without having any reason to believe that a crime has been committed.

I can't see how this could possibly be legal in the US.

Whoa, that's not a good thing for the industry. I have a feeling it's going to be a tad harder to get adult traffic from search engines in the next 12 months.

Why they ask for url's ? they just need to type keywords in google if they want to see a site.

Heh, I don't know if it's time to run around like Chicken Little but you can be sure they are angling to prosecute sites that don't have some kind of warning page on entry. Softcore tours may be necessary soon as well.

Some popular sites saw this coming. Have you taken a look at www.bangbus.com lately? Even the trailers are softcore.

I agree pornwolf... I would take this time to beef up warning pages, clean up tours to the general public. You can always have a seperate tour with more risque stuff that you market seperately from the one that people get when they type in your domain name.

this is the government we're talking about here.

they don't care if it is legal, moral, ethical, or other as long as they get what they want.

you think they're worried about the legality of something as "trivial" as this when they are breaking multiple other laws every second of everyday for things like roving wire taps?

the examples you've given deal with an entirley different branch of the government and for an entirely different purpose - so yes, when it's for something as trivial as this, that is surprising and frankly cause for much more concern than violations related to 'terrorism' etc.

the little stuff that there is no reason for is a greater indication of a rogue government than violations due to extreme circumstances
