Resolutions

1024x768 seems to be the standard - That's what I use. I just wanted to get a good idea of what you guys use. I am trying to integrate a message board into my site, but I may end up doing it the other way around.

Right now my resource site is optimized for 800x600, but still looks ok at higher resolutions. This message board I am trying to blend into the theme of my site, uses percentages on the tables and cells - and it takes up the entire browser window, no matter what resolution you're in.

Thanks everyone!

Change the table percentage to 95 or 90 and it will size down.

Sorry Turbo! You didn't have the option to chose for 'various' lol. We have several puters all set to different resolutions, so I didn't say.

Sort of sounded like you had a prob with the full screen board thing is why I said that. Alot of people don't work on percents.

You can see my dillema here: I have my MAIN SITE here. It is optmized for 800x600, yet it looks okay at higher resolutions - because I used fixed variables for the parameters of the layout of the site.

BUT - My MESSAGE BOARD is done with percentages.

I don't know if I am going to use a fixed table for the board - or just use percentages on my main site - I'm leaning towards the latter. I have to do it one way or the other to keep the look seemless overall.

Thanks again for your input, everyone!

Do it the former way.. you'll still have hair left to pull out tommorow when you encounter a more serious problem.

Depends on who you're building the site for.
MOST web surfers are at 800X600. Granted, bigger monitors and resolutions are becoming more prevalent, but they're still the exception rather than the rule.

And the AOL browser's max width is 680 by default, so I always do tables with width defined in pixels rather than percentage, and never make them wider than 680.

I run a number of different type of websites, besides adult ones, and I've noticed that in the stats of those sites, the most viewed at resolution by far (and these are surfers here) is 800x600 - and then 1024x768 - followed right behind by 640x480.

Well, my main site right now is that adult webmaster resource site - and it seems that most adult webmasters view in 1024x768. Probably because adult webmasters are usually not nOOb's and are too seriously into the web and computers too not have a good system, with a large monitor, hence - the higher resolution.

I could be wrong - but I could be right.
