So, Here is My Drama story..Thursday night is bike night. went to my buddies house and we road 2 miles to a friends house who also has a bike.. I know the area and I know It's the first of the month a shit load of cops are out so we drive extra carefull/slow 35mph zone we are going 35mph

So then Sure enough we get tailed by a cop car.. We used turn signals and everything.. and He pulls us over after tailgating us for 1 mile 1/2. We turn into the neighboor hood.. and he said He pulled us over because (my bike) Did not have a stock exhaust system..and thats illegal in Florida..After about 5mins of going back and fourth I ask him lemme see the saute (316.272) It says nothing about AfterMarket Exhaust systems only noise level. I have a SLIP-ON Muzzy Exhaust (English Just a muffler) He didn't give us a ticket but informing us that it's illegal and then he streotyped us.. saying we do stupid shit riding fast and poping wheelies down the road indangering lives of others...He let us off completly...no warning no ticket nothing..I would really like to have him eat shit for pulling us over for nothing.. here is the law. btw..

316.272 Exhaust systems, prevention of noise.--

(1) Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with an exhaust system in good working order and in constant operation, including muffler, manifold pipe, and tailpiping to prevent excessive or unusual noise. In no event shall an exhaust system allow noise at a level which exceeds a maximum decibel level to be established by regulation of the Department of Environmental Protection as provided in s. 403.061(13) in cooperation with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. No person shall use a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device upon a vehicle on a highway.

(2) The engine and power mechanism of every motor vehicle shall be so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of excessive fumes or smoke.

(3) A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318.

Sorry to hear that.... the cops in my area are so uptight I got a ticket for leaving my car running and standing more than 5 feet from it. (Mind you, this was after the hurricane tore through here leaving no power/water/sewage for most citizens for 6 months, so ppl were running non working lights, and apparently, me sitting outside my car was a problem?


There are great cops, (Friends with many in my community) but some are on huge power trips, but the judge laughed it out of court.... no harm done.

In the state of FL, you can get tickets to disappear by going to traffic school or by paying an attorney 50 bucks, are other states like that?

So True..... the dick that gave me my ticket, I see almost every fricken day because the community I live in is small and they spend most of their days at the Hess Gas Station eating. I go up there every morning for my Diet Mt. Dew and he seems to be there giving me the death stare after the trial.

I think his point was that they waste their time and cost tax payers money. The guy writing me a ticket for standing outside of my running car did so while 3 drivers hauled through a state road (441) and another major intersection. They are lazy as hell and look for anything to meet their quota which legally doesn't exist, but it's there and we all know it. But I have met great cops, so I'm not lumping them into a group. I ran out of gas on Alligator Alley and one went and got me gas to make it up to to the gas station, and if you don't know Florida, that is a horribe place to be stranded. You get on this turnpike and BOOM, no gas for 50 miles and only one tiny sign to warn you, which was blown off last year in the hurricane and not replaced.

Normally I would agree with you. Most cops are just out to ruin someones freaking day. They have a huge complex about how macho they are and how much respect they deserve. Come on, any one with a clean record can become a cop in about 6 months. I have had my share of run ins with them and I usually have nothing good to say about them. However, once in a very great while you run in to a cool one.

I get crap when I get my Dodge inspected sometimes. Diesel and straight piped, but in Texas a turbo is considered a sufficient muffling device. They also think that without a muffler it'll fail emissions testing(which isn't even required on diesels here). Most people are just to dumb to realize a muffler has nothing to do with emissions.
