Spam
I'm wondering about something, the html page loading email spam seems to be growing on me now at a huge rate and although I never resond to them I'm begining to think that if a graphic or the like loads off the email it's traced back and then that email account is marked as live and more spam is sent to it? is this possible?
And I'm about to IMG SRC the fuckers who are currently spamming me now as I'm getting fed up. In fact I'd be willing to talk to several other large sites about targeting major spam organizations and overloading their servers as I'm at my whits end with this shit. http://info.alexa.com/data/details?url=sleazydream.com

Yes, if the email contains images served from their server and they're smart enough to check those stats, they can indeed see that the email was read.
This is commonly known as a "web bug" although it's typically in the form of a 1x1 pixel graphic on a web page, the same terminology applies when talking about the (possible) invasiveness of html email.

exactly. it's beautiful. send out something with dynamic image links with the person's email or a tracking number, and you can verify when it's been rendered in their browser. that's why i only read email in plaintext anymore.. (that and nobody i know or care for sends me shit in html..)

I right click on the subject line in outlook and view the message source code. That way I know what to expect, and I know I won't be hit with one of this autoinstall viruses.

I once looked or there was an option to prevent HTML emails loading in MS Outlook, but didn't found it. Anybody else have a solution?

only kids that CAN access it are those that have parents who don't want to put Adult Lockouts on their computers. - which means the parents WANT those kids to see porn.

I know I got my kid a subscription to playboy when he turned 10. Might as well make them aware of it instead of afraid of it.

Ya target those major spam operations I am sure you will make a dent. Before long you may even find out that 90% of sponsors accept and love spam.
Why would anyone want to deal with someone sending them 300 signups per day. ![]()

Yah image sourcing is so hard to fight against... best part is when you get turned in for terrorism (which is what it now can be considered) b/c of you image sourcing someone else

Maybe everyone should get together, and place all of the image src's of email spammers on one page, then everyone could load that page in a tiny java window from whatever page that they like.
I just saw a nice free host from china, holding the spam from a comapny in florida http://www.sales-pitch.com/ could probably get a million hits per day easy

SleazyDream, this idea you have will work. I've done it to a few spammers already and within 2 hours they contacted me and I was immediately removed from their lists. Sometimes you have to fight fire with Lightning..hehehehe

I'm pretty sure Outlook Express won't let you read messages in text format only.
You can set it to send in text only, but they won't let you read in text only. The only options are to filter anything that might be a virus, or get rid of the preview pane and then look at the message source code before you open it. Or use something other than outlook. |

I think he was just referring to the fact that they were trying to pass a law that would make various hacking attacks classified as an act of terrorism.
I assume they were worried about foreign countries trying to cripple the U.S. via computer-based attacks. I don't think the law passed, but I could be wrong. |
