Hey jdavis

Yup we are ramping up for our move over to Switch & Data Reston where we are going to install our OWN Cisco Routers (dual 3750) and pull in bandwidth from 3 different sources (PTP, Local-Loop, and Cogent).

More to come in the future

Actually Zak may do some networking consulting for us , we also are in talks with a Canadian guy, Stephane who may also be coming onto the Tear2Hosting team full time as our network admin. We always have Brian from PTP who is by far one of the best, if not THE Best network administrators and consultants in the country agreeing to be on our team as a network administrator.

We take our network very seriously and have a host of people who we work with to make sure our network is in Tip-Top shape, security, and speed.

Thanks!

Hi Vinnie, It was nice seeing you at the NATS party :

As you see, with the correct OS installed on these Cisco units they can do the following:

The following features and functions are supported with the EMI:
? Dynamic IP routing protocols for load balancing and constructing scalable LANs: OSPF, IGRP and EIGRP, BGPv4
? Equal-cost routing for load balancing and redundancy
? Fallback bridging for forwarding of non-IP traffic between two or more VLANs
? Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) for IP multicast routing within a network that enables the network to receive the multicast feed requested and for switches not participating in the multicast to be pruned?support for PIM sparse mode (PIM-SM), PIM dense mode (PIM-DM), and PIM sparse-dense mode
? Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol (DVMRP) tunneling for interconnecting two multicast-enabled networks across nonmulticast networks
? PBR, which allows superior control by enabling flow redirection regardless of the routing protocol configured

Thus making them into a great solution for routing.

I think that will be our next investment into our network I will be talking with all the members of our company about the 6509's. Hopefully we can get those in for the launch of our Reston Expansion

BTW Spudstr our plan for the moment is that we are taking down our own cage in Reston. Thats the plan, hopefully when Brian does his dark fiber to Equinix we will be up 100%!

JimB, shoot me an email or call me and I will connect you with the source that we use for all of our Cisco equipment. They have been serving us for years and if you're in the market for equipment I would recommend them highly. You might be surprised on the 6509 side of things! I might even have something for you.

Expensive as fuck, I have 2 6506's with dual msfc2's in them, 2 16 port fiber cards and 2 copper blades. They ran me $35k each, and i get equiptment cheap, since i also also own a wholesale computer equiptment company. But them again they are one on the best and most relaible enterprise class siwtch/routers you can get.
